2015 Aiming for Glory!!!

Hey guys it's Goodjob here.

 

Hey guys welcome to my Career thread. For this thread i'm planning to bring Altrincham to Glory. I have managed to do this achievement in FMH 14. I wanted to try and do it again, but this time I want to share the ups and downs, heartbreak, tension, happiness, fulfillment and most of all the feeling of Glory to the FMHvibe community.

 

I hope that you guys will be there to support, follow and most importantly enjoy the long and painful ride to Glory.

Season 1- 1st half

 

Hey guys its Goodjob here,

 

Here's the beginning of the season and my tactics and transfers. I hope you enjoy and comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.

 

 

Transfers:

- really happy and satisfied with the transfers i made. It was a hard decision letting Lawrie go, but it was a big team and he wanted to leave.

 

-bought him for free. Real quality player for this lower division.

 

-I decided that i probably needed a Goalkeeper too. So much better than my goalkeeper at the club.

 

 

The Tactic:

 

-Well this is the formation and tactic  that came in my mind so i decided to stick with it.

 

 

The League:

 

I knew that it wasn't going to be a walk in the park to manage Altrincham but i went for it anyway.

 

-Going through a rough patch sure isn't the best feeling in the world. And it sure doesn't help that the Original match enging is so unreliable and unrealistic.   

 

-I guess i'm doing ok for a club that is expected to get relegated. Though its still the beginning of the season and things could either improve or get worst.

You might need to re think your formation do don't want to try anything fancy with lower league teams just a basic 442 works wonders. Also go direct or long passing.

Think you should try turning pressing on atleast for half on a match. Same with attacking.

See if Taylor-Crossdale is still available he is a great striker for this level.

Thanks for the advice Mike. I might give it ago. And yeah about the pressing thing, I decided to just not go with that because most of my players have very low stamina.

Season 1- 1st half

 

 

Hey guys its Goodjob here,

 

We are finished with the First half of the season. So here are the update on my Aiming for Glory career with Altrinham.

 

 

The Tactic:

-I decided to give Mike's suggestion a try, I bailed the 4-1-2-1 for a much simplier 4-4-2 and it worked nicely! Thanks for the advice Mike.

 

The League:

-Those are the results of the games. The fixtures started off where we left off. I used the 4-4-2 starting from the Torquay match. The results are impressive if you ask me. Not bad for a ream that is expected to be relegated.  Couldn't have done it without you Mike!

 

-We're in a pretty good position for a play-off spot.We're just 7 points away from that 5th play-off spot. If the results in the second half of the season goes our way, that 5th play-off spot will be good as ours! I believe that we can get promoted in our 1st season. WE CAN DO THIS!!! 

 

The cups:

* FA cup:

-Qualified for the Fa cup with a comfortable win against AFC telford.

 

-Ashamed cause we were huge favorites, but they were the better team. But we got ourselves back on the replay.

 

-Was excited to see if we could beat them cause they were a league above us and were favorites. Winning was on sight on  the first leg but was gutted to see them score. They outplayed us and showed their quality on the replay. But i thought it was the best to exit the FA cup, to be able to rest the players for the main focus which is the league.

 

*FA trophy:

Now this is a cup that i'm setting my eyes on. Winning this would be great and not impossible cause only lower division teams are allowed to join.

 

-A good start to the cup! comfortable win against Buxton in the 1st round.

 

Bonus:

-i knew buying Luscombe wasn't a waste. He is showing good signs.

 

-The Board confidence halfway through the season. So far there loving me!

I noticed that there is'nt much interactoin and comments here so i'm thinking of adding a game to this career thread.

I will call the game "The predicting challenge". The game is simple all you have to do is predict the end of the season stats.

Things you should predict:
The league position
Top goal scorer for the team
Top assistman for the team
Goals scored by the team for the whole season
Goals conceded by the team for the whole season

Here's an example on how to submit your prediction:
10th
Damian Reeves
Nathan Luscombe
55-65 ( it must be by ten )
40-50 ( must also be by ten )

The person with the most correct prediction wins and will be called " The prediction master" for that season.

Season 1- 2nd half

 

 

Hey guys it's Goodjob here,

 

So here we have it! all the hardwork all sums up here. The 2nd half of the season is finally finished which means the first season is finished. Keep scrolling down and keep reading to know how my first season with Altrincham went down.

 

 

The tactic:

- I decided to keep using the 4-4-2 tactic. This Tactic gave me mixed results this season, The lack of consistency was really frustrating, but at the end the Formation was great and simple.

 

The transfers:

-Unfortunately I was not able to make any transfers in this Winter transfer window because of financial reasons

 

-I decided to put the left over transfer budget in the wage budget to be able to renew the contract of my players. As you can see i'm in the red, but I think this will change when i start the next season.

 

The league:

- Those are the results of the games. The fixtures started off where we left off. The results for the 2nd half of the season was " up and down". The lack of consistency was really frustrating!

 

-*sigh. I was not able to reach the play-off spot of the league. The fixtures in the 2nd half of the season didn't seem to go my way. But in my opinion, it's not really a failure of a season because all that was expected to me by the Board was to stay clear of relegation.

 

The cups:

*FA cup

- if you can still recall, I was eliminated by Oxford in the 2nd round of the cup.

 

*FA trophy

-I said that I wanted to win this trophy but unfortunately, I got eliminated by Boston Utd. They were a side that i was favorite to win, but they shockingly eliminated us! EMBARRASSING!!    

 

Bonus:

-This is the board evaluation of me by the end of the season. So far the board are loving me!. I smashed thier expectations for the season. Just unlucky to not be able to get promotion. Well there's still next season right?  WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Not a terrible season. You was expected to get relegated.

Just look to build your team around Reeves Clee and Gillespie with a mix of youth an experienced players an you should get play offs next season.

You will also need to strengthen your back 5. You attack minded players are banging in the goals an working hard only for the work to be undone by conceding too many goals.

You should maybe look to have your APM play a more defensive role

Season 2- 1st half

 

 

Hey guys it's Goodjob here,

 

We are finished with our 1st season with Altrincham. Here I will show you the update for my 2nd season with Altrincham. My 1st season was sort of a mess. The road was agonizing for the 1st season, will it change or stay the same this season? scroll down and keep reading to find out. Enjoy!

 

 

The tactic:

-Still using the same tactic. I have not changed anything YET!!

 

The transfers:

-Its starting to piss me off now! yet another that i can't sign anyone. The finance always does not allow me to. In the screenshot above you may see that I am not in the red but that's because I have not renewed the contract of my players yet. It's really frustrating to not be able to sign anyone. I don't know what to do!

 

The league:

-Really good start of the season. But a bad run of form continued and I can't really see the team getting out of it anytime soon. *sigh there's another big possibility of another season in the Vanarama Conference.

 

-To be fair i'm  in a good position in the league. I guess for a team that is expected to battle bravely for relegation you can't ask for a better league position than 8th. But I have to admit, The gap between the 5th play-off spot looks daunting! I have to be honest with you, Promotion doesn't seem too much possible this season. 

 

The cups:

I'll have to say, this season sure wasn't my season for the cups. keep reading to find out why.

 

*FA cup

-Qualified for the FA cup with a good win. 

 

-WOW! I got eliminated in the 1st round! I did better last season. ( but i said to myself "hey! there's still the FA trophy right? I'm sure i'll do better in that one" well WRONG!!! 

 

*FA trophy

-Yup! yet another early exit from the cup this season. I'm about to blow up right now! I don't know what to do to improve my form.

 

Bonus:

-My good early form got myself my 1st ever accolade. I was so happy, I really thought that we would be able to continue our good form. well unfortunately I was wrong.

 

Final thoughts:

Well they said "it's always easier the 2nd time around" right? Well in my case it's not. It's so frustrating to not be able to improve you're team in the transfer window and when you go to a bad slump and you can't figure out what to do! I'm thinking of changing formation but i ain't sure about it, it might just make things worst. Be sure to give me much needed advise on what to do to get the team clicking again. Help guys i'm starting to lose hope on this save.

Last season you finished 12th with 21 wins 8 draws and 17 losses and GD +3.

You're now with 17 games left 8th with 13-8-8, GD +10. There's an improvement so it's not all that bad.

 

Altho I don't know any of your players your formation and player roles looks solid.

I hardly play attacking with lower league teams tho maybe try going Balanced with mixed passing style to suit the majority of your players and see how it goes.

Do some tweaking and testing to make it click.

We never know if things are going to improve. really frustrating to not be able to challenge for that play-off spot. Well I guess I have to be patient. Sometimes LLM can really get me to blow up! Season 2- 2nd half

 

 

Hey guys it's Goodjob here,

 

Here we are again. It's the 2nd half of season 2. In the 1st half I showed you that I was 8th. Was I able to move up the table?Was I able to make the play-offs? have a look and find out. Enjoy!

 

 

 

The Tactic:

-This time i'm not going to show you to not waste your time because I just kept the tactic and did not change anything.

 

The Transfers:

-Same story as always! Due to financial problems of the club. I wasn't able to make any transfers.

 

The league:

Before I show you my final league position, I want to show you the fixtures first.

 

-I found that the team was better on the 2nd half of the season. We were a tad more consistent. I like the improvement of the team.

 

Here's the league position folks.

-Too bad I was not able to reach the play-off. But on the bright side, The team really improved from 12th to 8th. I'm confident that we can get promoted if the club just had the finance.

-Already got eliminated in the 1st half of the season.

Final thoughts:

In my personal opinion enjoyed this season more than last season . We were very dangerous in the league and the team proved that we can beat the big boys in the league. The team really improved and i'm proud of the 8th place finish. The only thing that's bugging and pissing me off is the clubs finance. How can I get the team Promoted if I can't improve the team?
