Tactics Striker not testing keeper enough?

Recommended Posts

I'd say the striker isn't supported enough. A poacher tends to sit around in front, not really dropping back, so if your team is having trouble to get balls in the box, or your poacher isn't finding the best positions, then you can get that problem. @sduncan0312 in your case I'd say the striker lacks support in the box. That could be fixed by making an InF from one of your wingers.

I don't think it's the lack of support because he plays attacking so even the DLP would find himself around the edge of the box often

A dlp will by definition be a defensive player. I think that the only thing that really changes for him is the urgency and directness of his passing and pressing when playing attacking.

Having fiddled with the heaving fidled with the tactical position of the two CM's I seem to have fixed the problem somewhat. Though my only issue now is that my striker is rather inconsistent, either scoring 2/3+ for about 2/3 games Ina. Row, then not scoring for a few games. Though I think this might be because they are no top quality as i'm playing in the lower leagues?

It's normal you just need to learn more about him and how to get the best out of him

No one seems to have bothered asking, but WHO is your striker? And can you post a screenie?

This isn't him. Not powerful, though still a good player nonethe less.

His poor decisions may be a factor, but other than that he's not bad and you should be fairly pleased with his goals return.

I am pleased with him, only issue is he just inconsistent. Scores 3/4 then next game none. ? So what's he best way to improve decisions?

I don't know what sort of training will improve decisions. I would assume a high focus on 'tactics' or maybe 'motivation' might help. So long as the goals still come from elsewhere though you don't really need to worry.

Attacking mentality with Men begind ball?

I suggest to turn off men behind ball.

Doesn't "men behind ball" play a role here? I mean, as an overall tactic, having your whole squad thinking defensively should probably mean less scoring opportunities?

I have similar problem in that i dominate stats in Shots but the Shots on target percentage is awful , as opposed to the opposition who seem to have a greater percentage on target despite having seemingly inferior players.

My tactic that i'm using at the moment is very similar to yours  a few differences in a couple of player roles and team instructions.

Have to agree with Guillermo , "men behind the ball" with  an attacking mentality seems counter-productive.
