Ranged Potential is available on some players and means that it can differ in each save between the values. Please note some players may not be available on the database you use, may differ or not be in the game as this is based off of the Football Manager database that SI uses.

That was quick Dec! Only had a brief look at the moment. Haven't noticed any surprises yet, anyone else? Martial has been bumped up to what looks like a -10 (160-190) alongside Tielemans & Odegaard. By the looks of it there doesn't seem to be as many wonder kids, or am I imagining that? Or ones that are are not as high ranked as last year's game?

Does seem so @Condo though this year has half - PA so a fair few are 140-170 which is good but can be average so not included.

Oh wow I see! Just a question I haven't asked before Dec - have we ever had a thread regarding players aged between 21-23? Y'know those who are still young but not quite 'wonderkids' As a lot of these players are great but previous wonder kids/other players aged between 21-23 who still have a high chance of improving tend to be forgotten about once they've past the 21 age. For example a lot of the time I will avoid a few of these players because I'm not sure if they will develop much further or not with each new game...although the obvious answer would be 'it's a game, try/work it out'

In short last years best 21 year old could now be this years worse 22 year old, as an iOS user is there anyway of finding what these players potential would be?

p.s I recognise this barely makes sense. I've had beer. This is a worthy excuse.

I did one last year, wasn't very popular actually. I will see if I can do a list within the next few days. Added it to my list :).

Not promising a release but if there are 50-60 170+ PA players aged 22-25 I will do a list for you.

Excellent! That's what I'm getting at, thanks again Dec! If there's not/it's not worthwhile doing then obviously don't worry, but thanks anyway. I'm more impressed that you knew what I was waffling on about!

Helpful as ever Dec, thank you. No Januzaj, I notice, which given his early season travails is not surprising.  I welcome it being less populated, I have to say - there's a danger that if you let it, it can start to make you forget the game is about putting a team together, not getting greens on the attributes board :-) Once I've got the hang of the game with a big club, I like to start at the bottom, and I find it more satisfying to find players who'll sign for a French national League side, or a League Two, and who turn out to be solid and dependable for years at the core of a team. And let's face it, Jamie Vardy was nobody's wondered and look at him now.

Why is there no Januzaj :O

How is that possible? Sure he's not lived up to his full potential yet, but stilll. And no Carrasco/Bakkali? :/

I think it's a good idea - I prefer unearthing them myself, but there is a certain amount of drudgery in plodding through the many many MANY Irish League/League of Ireland/Welsh League players who turn up when you're managing a lower league side. And if you're not managing a top team with a big budget, then the mid-priced 22-25 year old is often of a lot more value than the wonderkid.

The new DB does not seem to have many young players, in particular South America? Perhaps after the 1st season will get some appear?

I looked in the Colombia national squad and he isn't there either.  Good. Where's the fun in just going back to the same wonder kids year in, year out? Besides, the nature of wonder kids is that some will be over-rated, and some will fade away. He's 22, the anticipated big move to one of Europe's big clubs hasn't happened. Let's find a new defensive beast :-) Chances are this will happen to other easy picks - Odegaard might be playing for a Championship side at 23, after all (I rather suspect he will - he'd have been better off going to a club where he would get game time, rather than the rather tawdry tour of European super clubs deciding which one he would choose to grace with his talent. I said it above - I think wonder kids as a concept is fun, but that's all it is. Remember Freddy Adu.

Balanta is still decent I can let you have a look once I have time and John Stones this year is BEAST

Completely agree that it should not be all about wonderkids, but for me that is where i get the most enjoyment, unearthing someone a bit spesh for next to nothing and then turning them into a £50million monster. The thing is, i cant really find anyone, like i said my normal hunting ground Argentina does not have any 0-21 of any interest, and other continents have none? Just seems like the DB is a bit sparse 1st season? That is why i am having to go back to tried and tested from last season. It is early days so hopefully we will all start to find some bargains :)

I agree too that unearthing special talent is fun, but if you're just going by Dec's list, great work though it is, you're removing some of the fun of that. I think we're both talking about the same thing. For me a wondered is someone who is on the list, but players who fit into a team with lower CA/PA can play an important role. I managed Burton in FMH 15 and there were players there who had very average (at best) ability who went all the way to the Champions League :-)

Im still playing FMH15 with Weymouth. It has taught me alot about the game, you do not need high CA/PA to win stuff. My first season when they appeared in VCS, literally no team. I had to sign all 30yo+ free transfers and still managed to get promoted, an awful lot of fun :)

I've found him, playing as Man United. You have to load english leagues only. Or it's what I did and I got him, he's hard to sign though (he's still at River Plate in game) cos of the work permit.
