Haha, it's always like that. Pure sales tactic.
When the downloads start to decrease significantly, they put an offer like this to pump the sales up.

We do the same at my work sooo ^^

But still, like to play games when they come out. It's up to you but I can't stand seeing my friends play to the new version and not me
