Career KTS John Charles Challenge attempt

Introducation 

As the creator of the John Charles challenge I decided that I had to try it myself. 

For this challenge I selected a team I have never managed before. The mighty Barcelona. I chose them partly for this reason and partly for their budgets and strong team.

The Player I have chosen to use is one I know a lot about because he plays for the club I support and I always make my first career of the game with them. That team is Newcastle United and the Player is Chancel Mbemba.

His stats are pretty decent to be used as a target man with greens in aerial, decisions, strength and teamwork. He also has 13 in movement which with intensive attacking training could easily turn to a green too. I have every confidence that Chancel will get to the 385 goal target. I am also setting a secondary personal goal of 500 goals in The striking career of Chancel Mbemba.

Nah he won't retrain. His attributes are pretty good though with training

Season 1

Transfers

My only two transfers were Mbemba (obviously) and Clement Grenier to boost my cm options.

Competitions

Spanish Super Cup

Each leg was a 2-0 home win and we lost on penalties to Real Madrid

European Super Cup

First piece of silverware of the year with a nice 3-1 win

Club World Cup

3-1 win in the final that's trophy 2

Spanish Cup

A 2-1 win in extra time provides us with silverware number 3

Champions League

I forgot to screenshot but we crashed out in the quarter final 4-3 on aggregate to PSG

League

Nice first year league win for the team

 

The Player

So how did Chancel Mbemba do in his first year as a striker.

He was put on intensive attacking training which brought his attributes up a little

The only attribute I'm not exactly enamoured with is that shooting at 11 but I can live with this from a centre half. Also he can't be retrained in the striker position.

So how did he do on the goals front this year with these improved attacking stats?

39 goals in 59 games is pretty good going for a centre half up front. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed.

Also he got two awards

Yeah I do. Using the same tactic as I've used in my 1grey challenge.

I've also no idea how he got world player of the year. His form rating was only at like 7.5 ish

I just checked out the formation from your 1grey challenge and having the Target Man should suit a CBs natural attributes.

Transfers

The big moves are Busquets out because he wanted a new challenge and he was replaced with Goretzka. I also brought in the fantastic Jorge and some backup centre halves

Competitions

Spanish Super Cup

A nice 5-3 aggregate win after the 1-1 first leg result nets us silverware number 1.

Spanish Cup

We just pipped Madrid to the cup in injury time thanks to Messi's second goal of the game.

Champions League

This was where we crashed out, falling to Man City's 1 goal at home. Disappointing early exit

League

In a tense two horse race we secured the title on the last day of the season.

The Player

So how is Mbemba settling into his role as number one striker for the club?

Well his attributes are pretty much unchanged...

Yes he won world player of the year again. Great going.

And he also got Spanish player of the year. But how many goals did he score?

Wow 57 in 57. Those are almost 1kc stats. I was incredibly impressed with Mbemba's prowess in front of goal this year.

I actually have him on free kicks and he has scored a decent amount. Be nice to see more people picking up this challenge and upping the bar beyond 500 goals too. I still plan a converted winger challenge soonish.

Oh, I'm very much into this challange! I have taken some time creating and testing some tactics first. But I'm now under way with R.Madrid and Jason Denayer. Needed to find the right man for the task, but I think I got it now. ? Will post some results soon...

Denayer is another good choice. There will be so many centre halves upto this challenge. Eric Bailly is another I've literally just thought of on the spot now. Plenty of young Spanish and French centre halves out there too.

Looking forward to seeing your results though.

Basically bringing in decent young(ish) players to bulk out the squad a little.

A close run thing but we lost on penalties in the end.

A dominant display secures us cup success

Champions League

We get that first champions league title under our belt.

League

Smashed the league this year with only one loss and one point off 100.

The Player

Different year same attributes for our man.

World and Spanish player of the year again, but how many goals did he score?

A few less than last year but happily over the 50 goal mark again. I'm still aiming for 60+ next year.

This is the tactic I'm currently using but there are many variations people use on a 4321 depending on the players they are using but I've seen 4231 and 442 style tactics used with a deep lying, defensive forward or target man beside a poacher/advanced forward.

Season 4

Tranfers

Brought in some decent youngroup players and Drinkwater to fill the DLP role on my bench.

Competitions

Spanish Super Cup

Despite all of our opportunities on goal the game went to penalties which we luckily won.

EURO Super Cup

We dominate the game but only beat Liverpool 2-1

Spanish Cup

We comfortably saw off valencia in the cup final 3 goals to 0

Club World Cup

We faced colo colo  in the final and won comfortably

Champions League

We make it to the final and face rivals Real who have two goals disallowed as we win 1-0

League

A close run thing this year but we see off the challenge of Real and won the league. 

The Player

Again our man's attributes are virtually the same.

How was his season?

Spanish and world player of the year again this year. Fantastic, but how was his goal tally?

48 goals. Another drop in goals but still very respectable and it gets us over the halfway point to our target of 385 goals.
