Career Taffs DT/GaM Challenge (COMPLETE)

AND WELCOME TO MY FIRST (OF MANY HOPEFULLY) POST ON FMM17

So to kick things off I've gone straight in with a challenge, one I wanted to start on FMM16 but simply ran out of time

As the title suggests this is a Double Trouble (DT) challenge and for those who don't know the aim is to take two strikers and score 1500 goals between them, and since I'm fond of a goal based challenge and have yet to attempt this one I thought why not.

Now last years game saw me start an Triple Combo Challenge but I've decided just to do a Double Challenge instead this year removing the converted winger portion as it turns out i SUCK at creating 3 striker formations so we'll stick with a two striker set.

However I will also be attempting to get both strikers to complete the Goal a Minute Challenge while hunting for the 1500 goal mark.  For Those unaware the Goal a minute requires the striker to score a goal for every minute of play I.E. score a goal in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd ect over X number of seasons, but i will attempt to get both my players to complete this

Now without further Ado let us begin our Quest

So I already had two players in mind for this challenge after testing a few players last year, I also needed two young strikers of the same nationality incase i can grab the National Managers job, so I went French OH LA LA

My chosen Pair is 

Anthony Martial a great young prospect with bags of speed and excellent dribbling skills and good shooting stats and at only 20 years old gives me plenty of time with him, and his partner

M'Baye Niang who I've used in other challenges in the past and is an excellent striker to develop and again his age helps even if his stats aren't as impressive as Martials

So I have my chosen players (and after making myself French, in case the national job becomes available) I had to chose my club and looking at my chosen pair there was only one choice

I became the new manager at the theatre of dreams, and looking to get Man U back to winning ways (plus there was no way I was going to be able to afford to move Martial on without becoming Barcelona, Real or Bayern) and as any of you who followed me last year know I love playing in the EPL

So I have my Club and I have my chosen pair in mind so lets get this show on the Road

Season 1

So the big thing in the first season was to chose my tactic and get my squad in order 

For my Tactic I chose to use my 442 Attacking formation which has always served me well in the past, Here's how it looks 

So it has stayed the way it always has, the only difference I made was changing the Front two between TM/AF, AF/PCR or TM/PCR to try and get the best out of my Strikers, did it work well keep reading to find out

Transfers

So after looking at my squad (which helps having Pogba now) I went out to the transfer market and did me some shopping

Niang was the first to be added at £20M which is a quarter of what United would have wanted for Martial, then I looked at Ousmane Dembele as a few people where looking forward to using him so I thought I'd give him a shot (and he didn't disappoint) then Klaassen from Ajax to help my midfield and Arnautovic as a good LW/RW option to help Dembele and Depay 

Schneidelin was the big release (I didn't plan to sell him but offers came in and he wasn't happy about staying so out he went, Rooney was let go (I'm really not a fan) then just players who weren't going to get a look in

League

So our first aim this year was to bring the EPL crown back to Old Trafford for the Red Devils, so how did we do....

We smashed it reaching the 100 mark in both Goals and points leaving City 16 points behind us and only losing 2 games all season 

Cups

We also had a good chance to bring some silverware back with us

We start with a very convincing win over Last years EPL champs Leicester to claim the Community Shield 

Two of my youngsters combine to clinch the EFL Cup beating Everton 2-0 

Another convincing win in the Euro Cup beating A. Madrid 4-1 thanks to a double from Martial 

But we miss out on the FA cup loosing to Chelsea in the Final thanks to a 92 minute goal from Costa

But a good haul winning the Community Shield, EFL Cup and Euro Cup

Fixtures

Here's our season fixture list

A great season all around loosing 3 games all season and all of those came after April and some very convincing wins along the way

Season Awards

My players claim a few awards this season 

Niang claims the WPOTY after a belting start to his career at Old Trafford 

He also clinches the EPL POTY award with Depay coming runner up

Martial claims the EPL YPOTY with Rashford coming 2nd so my players doing there bit this year

I only manage to come runner up in the EPL MOTY awards but still a great season

The French Connection

So with awards and league titles in their first season how did our boys do

Well Martial would have done better had he not missed almost four months of the season through Injury

A big loss but he still did well 

Some nice improvements in his stats (look at that pace)

Martial ends the year with 36 goals to his name (not bad for missing 4 months)

How about Niang

Some good improvement again from Niang with his passing and shooting stats now in the green 

Niang Finishes on 43 which isn't bad but considering he played 16 more games and only scored 7 more than Martial is a little concerning but stamina has been an issue also 

We can only hope for improvement next season

Plenty of goals this season with Niang seaming quite eager scoring in all but two of the first 10 minutes and another bonus is that both players scored in the 1st and 90th minutes (Martial even hitting 1 and 90 twice)

So now onto season two and hopefully pleanty more goals and plenty more minutes

Season 2

Sorry for the wait guys been busy but I've got two full seasons to catch you up on, so let's get to it

First thing was the shear amount of job offers this year (I mean none of the big clubs came calling, so don't know why I would leave)

I also decided to add a second tactic to my rotation to give me another option here's how it looks 

Transfers

So we went pretty big this year

£124M on four players is a bit nuts but look at the Quality I brought in, some big names there plus Romero as a quality backup striker (after last years injuries)

Some big money going out after I started using my other tactic more and more my WB's wanted out and I wasn't going to say no so got £45M for Shaw and £7.75M for Darmian plus Mata, Herera, Januzaj and others brought me a cool £93M meaning I only realy spent £31M in the end

League

After a solid first season in the League could we carry on our winning ways

Yes we could and another 100 goal season only 2 losses and a very good goal difference as well

Cups

So how did we fair in the cups this year...

We start the season with a very convincing win over Chelsea for the Community Shield thanks to a Martial hat-trick

A double from Martial this time helps us claim the Euro Supercup over our Rivals City

One of my new signings Eriksen claims the only goal in the EFL Cup which we win a second time against Everton in the Final

A extra time winner from Martial clinches the FA Cup beating Chelsea in another cup final

And another tight game sees us lift the Champions Cup over last years Champs City

So all cup competitions won this year thanks to Martial and co

Fixtures

Here's our season fixture list

Some big wins early on in the season (7-0 vs West Brom being the highlight) but lots of 1-0, 2-1 games come the end of the season but a good all round season

Martial claims the WPOTY award this season over Morata 

He also clinches the EPL POTY award edging out Depay 

And for the second year running I come runner up in the MOTY awards (seriously I won everything)

Martial and Niang

So how did my two Frenchmen do this year, well another Injury hit season (I'm starting to think @billy2shots was right about an Injury bug, it's been crazy this year)

Niang started early

Then it was his turn to miss 4 months

Martial also missed some time

Here's their stats and season history

Niang only managed 24 goals this year (which isn't too bad considering he only played 32 games)

Martial did get a better goal to game ratio with 54 goals in 52 games

So we break the 150 mark but need much improvement (and to stay fit)

Season 3

Straight into season 3 and hopefully a better goal tally and less injuries 

Transfers

Big money spent again but not many signings 

Emre Can was the big money buy this year as a good all around Midfielder/Defender and Christopher Dietrich was brought in as a backup GK

Wilson was the only sale this year with all others left to leave after their contracts ran out

League

Looking to secure our third EPL title

And another comfortable defence of our title leaving our closest rivals 22 points behind, but the goal tally is not as impressive this year, struggled to win by more than 1 goal most games

Cups

Looking to improve on our cup haul this year by adding the World Club Championship

Didn't start too well loosing the Community shield after a boring 0-0 draw and a terrible shootout

We pick our game up and clinch our second Euro Supercup beating Spurs for the honours this year

We clinch the World club Championship in less than convincing fashion

A third EFL trophy comes our way thanks to a good solid win over the "Other" reds

We miss out on the FA cup after a bad showing in the Semi Finals but....

We claim revenge on Chelsea beating them in the Champions Cup final

Not the greatest season in terms of results, plenty of wins but too few goals saw a lot of close games

Depay this time claims the WPOTY just outshining Martial

But they again clinch 1st and 2nd in the EPL POTY

No young players and more surprisingly no MOTY (not even runner up come on whats a guy got to do)

Martial and Niang

So how did we do this season, well they still hit a few Injury periods but only the one 2 month case this season

And again it's poor Niang who suffers

The boys were very hit and miss this year which shows in their histories

As you can see their stats are still very impressive but I can't seem to crack a formation that will get the best out of both of them

So we seem to be hoovering around the 80ish goal seasons but I want to improve on that a great deal

The GaM is going nicely but hopefully their scoring improves soon, 80 a season isn't bad but from these two I think they can do a little more haha.

Cheers dude, he has had some issues and it always seems to be 2 months at a time rather than the odd 2 weeks here 10 days there, but this season he has been on fire (even if he has just missed another 2 months)

Yeah I'm happy how the GaM is going but the early seasons are always going to produce more than the later ones, I'm hoping this seasons goal tally will be better they seem to be firing a bit more now I've changed the roles and instructions a bit on my attacking 442

Season 4

And we're back and on to our fourth season and hopefully getting my guys to score a few more goals 

With that in mind I chose to go back to my attacking 442 but tried a different role with my strikers and some new instructions

Gave my strikers some more freedom this season making them CF's and letting them do what they do best however they want, then changed the instructions to Attacking with short passing and added the counter attack so my pacey W/IF/CF could get up quick

Let's see how this new system did

Transfers

First a bit of shopping and with the squad in a good place I didn't need much

Brought in Guedes as another option at either W or IF (had a spate of injuries to my wide players last year so got another one as a help) Silva and Jenkinson both brought in to help out at FB

Goretzka and Romero were moaning about play time so I sold them for some good profit

League

Another season and another league campaign, we did well points wise last year but need improvement in the goals scored.....

And we did just that finishing 1 point less than last year but secured our highest GF ratio yet 117 league goals 

Cups

Onto the cup competitions and hoping to add yet more silverwear to the trophy case

We start by loosing out to Arsenal in the Community shield 2-1

But we claim our third successive Euro Supercup with a decent win over Liverpool

Another World Club Championship comes our way thanks to a 3-1 win over ATM

A brace from Depay clinches the EFL cup against Newcastle 

Everton loose out to us in a cup final for the third year running, granting us another FA Cup

But this is my favourite of the whole season, we make it all the way to the Champions cup final and on the day of the final I go to pick my squad and I find this

All but 11 of my players are off on International duty leaving me to pick from 9 players and 2 injured players, so i raid my resevres and call a few up last minute to go and face Juventus and I obviously thought well that's that but low and behold

We decimate the shots and other stats and manage to win the cup thanks to a single goal from Eriksen

So all in all another good season loosing 3 games and drawing 6 plus beating Man City 6-1 and 6-0 over the course of the year keeps me smiling

Season Awards

Managed to grab a few awards again this year

Martial comes in 2nd in the WPOTY behind Muller

My strike partners take 1st and 2nd in the EPL POTY 

Dembele and Rashford do the double in the YPOTY

And I finally win my first MOTY award 

Niang and Martial

So another season and of course more injuries

Niang out for another 4 month stretch and Martial missed a month or two as well 

But with 117 league goals how did the boys fair this year

Niang had his best season since season 1

And Martial hits a decent 53 this year

So the boys break the 90 goal mark for the first time and go over the 300 total goals so we're on the right track

Well done Taff, a solid season considering Niang missed 20 games. He does seem very injury prone on an AC Milan save I'm doing so hopefully you can get him to play enough minutes to complete the challenge. 

I'm sure you have done so but when Niang is injured switch to your Barbosa tactic that concentrates the goals on one of the strikers and milk Martial for all he's worth.
