Well guys I have returned just in time for a thrilling conclusion to what has been an immense CC10

Well done to both @Real_Random and @BatiGoal for making it through to the semi's and hard luck with those results but the best two managers are now fighting to the death

Lets go Team Gentleman Bear

Too soon :( haha. Tbf I'm happy to fail from time to time, you'd be bored of me if I always succeeded i'm sure. You have to take the defeats to appreciate the victories and all that :P

Win or lose these finalists will hopefully take something from these finals :).

The only way is up :D. One massive reason for the careers community coming back to life after a few tough years is people like yourself stepping up and getting involved :D.

Cheers Ash just need to work harder on my skills, It's all good having a tactic that works but I'm stumped when they don't and i lack the ability to look at a game and see where needs improving but I'm still here to have fun and enjoy this awesome community that people like you @PriZe, @samhardy and @BatiGoal have worked so hard to build

My PM's are always open mate :). I've always had someone to talk to about ideas and what not. It's no surprise my activity plummets when people like Sam and Prize aren't around.

Cheers dude, I have always thought of my self as a plug and play guy who's not to worried about the details, but I have found myself looking more closely at my squads and players making sure I have the right guys for the position and this year especially has shown me that picking teams with no budget is still fun as it forces you to look at free agents and older player (always think 30 is the cut off for most players)

Although I'm still a one tactic guy who dents to stick to one thing and just let it play out, I know it's good to have other options and I might have to look closer when I start the Defender challenge along with @BatiGoal

The best advice I can give to any career poster looking to stand out is to be unique. That doesn't mean you have to go big but just be different, post something someone else isn't etc. If a career of someone else's inspires you make a note of it and play it later in the year or once they're done. Two similar careers at the same time gives the community less options to read, can take away the thunder from your or the other thread and just doesn't stand out. Bati's thread has stood out as it's unique, a new challenge/concept but also the only one like it being posted now. I've binned plenty of careers or held off from posting them plenty of times if a similar idea appears around that time etc.

Yeah I know what your saying and to be honest I'm struggling to come up with anything and I've started two challenges these last couple of days and I'm just not invested as it's the same old thing

Did try to emulate the 1K greyed out player one from last year (forgot who's that was) but I was trying it with Wrexham and just struggled to get anything going but Might be the one that gets my juices flowing again

If those snigglewiggles aren't around there's still always me ;)

Apart from looking at "forgotten" challenges you could also try to merge some of them to make them even more challenging and more fun. And unique of course as well. Some of the careers posted now consist of multiple challenges. Before I decided on the Defender Challenge I was thinking about the simple Alphabet Challenge (scoring A-Z with strikers) but with a twist. Either make up your own twist or merge an existing challenge. Add an age restriction..a budget..a nationality perhaps..or youngsters with 0 goals to their names, which is pretty tough due to the limitations. There's plenty out there ;)

You've totally just jinxed a CC first where it'll be a draw across the board and a tie breaker will be needed.

Nah, if it ended as a tie I'd win on away goals :P

How did you find the league? Easy as hell :O tough part was selling and finding some players who could increase in valur :O

League was a complete walk in the park but the final squad value was my weak point.. £2.7M was nowhere near enough to build a squad to increase in value :/

I was joking when i said 8m, was 6,5, was lucky with selling some of the more expensive lads, but the roughly went for a quarter of their value  :( i'm pretty happy with the end result with team value. Just hope it's enough, cause like you said, we could hardly do anything with the budget

Challenge Cup 2017

- The Final - Results -

After nearly 5 weeks of intense battling we've finally arrived at the point we were all looking forward to from the start. All 27 participants were dreaming of making it this far but 25 of them already let go of their dreams and there's 1 more to be added to that group. Only 1 may call himself the CC10 Champion after today and we're going to find out who that person is.

Quick refresher..

The Final Challenge

Become the KV Mechelen boss and bring the club to glory in the Belgian Pro League. Major twist was demote all players never to be played again and use them to create the transfer budget which was set at 0. The more players you manage to sell the bigger your budget which ultimately decides how good a squad you're working with for this challenge. At the end of the journey the total squad value gets you big bonus points. Our two finalists did really well but it is indeed these bonus points that was the decider in this final.

The Final Match-up

League Position

Both finalists did what was expected of them. They made KV Mechelen champions of Belgium and brought the yellow reds fans immense joy. All 15 teams finished below them earning both managers 16 points.

Challenge Cup 2017 - Standings after League Position

  • samhardy - 16 pts
  • PriZe - 16 pts

League Points

Both having led their club to the title, next we needed to look at was how many points were scored to get to that #1 spot. Again, both did very well with only 2 draws out of 30 games. However, Prize won 26 and losing 2 while samhardy won all other 28, making his season actually an Invincible season in the league. Fine achievement. PriZe earns 80 pts and sam 86.

Challenge Cup 2017 - Standings after League Points

  • samhardy - 102 pts
  • PriZe - 96 pts

Goal Difference

As samhardy's taken an early lead, next we're going to look at the goal difference in which their domestic league success was achieved. No surprise both our finalists rocked this part of the challenge again. Things were not entirely rock solid at the back but it was clear both finalists were more focused on hitting the net at the opponents' side than keeping them from returning the favor. PriZe did a decent job keeping goals out conceding 27. Samhardy's defence was tighter conceding 4 less and 23 only in total. At the other side of the pitch samhardy responded with 63 goals earning him a Goal Difference of 40. PriZe was a little more prolific on the other end and hit the net 82 times. That earned him a GD of 55.

Challenge Cup 2017 - Standings after Goal Difference

  • PriZe - 151 pts
  • samhardy - 142 pts

Cup Run

PriZe has overtaken Samhardy on the leaderboard at this points. Next let's see how well (or poorly) our guys did in the Belgian Cup. Samhardy rocked this part of the challenge beating everyone put in front of his KV Mechelen side. He had a tough final tho in Club Brugge but managed to get his hands on the cup by beating his opponents on penalties. 10 pts for Sam. PriZe didn't have any major difficulties with this part of the challenge either. He went all the way as well beating STVV in the final. 10 pts as well.

Challenge Cup 2017 - Standings after Goal Difference

  • PriZe - 161 pts
  • samhardy - 152 pts

Bonus Points

As expected, all comes down to the bonus points. How bright or gloomy does the future look for these two Mechelen teams? How healthy are the teams' bank accounts? How much is the squad's combined value? The value of the most expensive 23 players of the squad were added x2 for the deciding bonus points. Let's start with our virtual runner-up. Sam's squad counted a total of 39M earning him a massive 78 pts. This brings his total to 230 points. That's a 69 pt gap over by now virtual runner-up PriZe. This means that his squad must count roughly 35M to close the gap. However, after adding all his best 23 squad players, excluding the 1 loanee he brought into his team, we came to a total of 73M. That's 146 pts he earns and more than enough to seal the victory.

Challenge Cup 2017 - Final Standings

  • PriZe - 307 pts
  • samhardy - 230 pts

Well done to both finalists. Tremendous job both did throughout the entire tournament. I would also like to thank @samhardy as well for helping co-hosting this wonderful Challenge Cup. Thanks mate! And @Ashez for being a listening ear during the challenge construction process. Thanks! And of course all of you participants for making this possible and turning this into a very enjoyable event. I hope you liked the challenges and I hope you learned a few things from the experience. Also thanks to those who haven't joined but chipped in with comments and great support for the participants. All these things helped making this a success and I hope we get the same response at the next Challenge Cup CC11. Hope to see you there Vibers. Cheers ;)

woo woop :D i won, i can't believe it :O

When i joined i didn't think i would come this far with the likes of @danovic78 @Jens @BatiGoal @Taff @samhardy and @Real_Random in the competition as well. With the rest of the lot all great managers or tactic creators.

I want to thank @BatiGoal and @samhardy for a great cup and some really excellent challenges! I was a bit worried for the final because both Sam and i are able to get a team firing, but in the end my gamble payed of with picking the right players :) Thanks for a tense final Sam! And thanks @Taff and @Real_Random for the congrats

Cheers The gentleman bear

ps: @Ashez see how hard it is to beat Sam :P
