Career 1k Slb Challenge

Will be trying out 1000 goal challenge with my favorite cub Benfica as I couldn't do it with any other club. I know the squad, and the league, so it should be fairly easy to get this world class team working for my selected forward.

 

The player:

I had two choices for my main player, both Portuguese but both different types of players:

Ze Gomes

A 17 year old Poacher with limited stats but with loads of space for improvement.

 

Goncalo Guedes

 

An 19 year old inside forward that can also play as upfront ,that has good stats and can improve very quickly.

 

I ended up deciding on Ze Gomes, taking on the challenge of building him up and also from @BatiGoals suggestion.

This would mean that the first two seasons he will not score as many goals, as he is not yet a world class player, but I have the time to build my squad and tactic to his benefit.
 

I have already done a few seasons with this, which I will be posting shortly..

1st Season

We started out with the Supertaca against Porto:

 

Ze Gomes, as expected, did not score much throughout the season, but still ended up as joint best scorer:

And sorted by assists:

He had a lot of assists, as he was not our main attacker, but still banged in 20 goals.

 

He finished the season looking like this:

So the main objective of this season was fullfilled as I managed to improve his stats a lot, while getting some goals in. 2nd season next...

2nd Season

Our second season got Ze Gomes scoring about the same number of goals as before.. I would think that with his stats improving, he would get more chances but instead, he just help the team get more goals!

43 goals on my first 2 seasons, and now he is ready to pick up his game and start scoring more goals!

3rd Season

Ze Gomes is now ready to start getting some goals in, and good news as Fernando Santos, Portuguese manager, has just retired and I was offered the job!

Tough game, but at least Ze Gomes got 2 more goals..

Great turn around. Gomes did not score, but at least we turn a 0-3 loss at home with a 1-4 win at the Emirates!

4th Season

This season saw Gomes score a bit more, but still far off what I need him to be scoring..

Still far off from what I need to get.. I think I need to revise tactics to work more towards one forward...

5th Season

Ze Gomes is a great pick for the 1KC but he's falling way short at the moment. He should be scoring double the amount or it'll take him 20+ seasons at this rate.

I suggest finding a new formation/tactic for him or you won't come anywhere near 1000 goals. Goodluck

He's developing nicely and is definitely capable of reaching 1000, but I agree with @BatiGoal that you really need to pick the pace up. The way to do that it to give him more space. His teammates are taking his goals! He should have got most of Guedes and Silva's goals. So you need to get them out of the picture and leave him with most of the chances.

In my 1KC I had my striker play as the only forward and then kept other forwards / attacking midfielders wide, no central AM to get in his way. Took me a while to find a formation that actually worked the best, but then my striker started scoring 70 and 80 a season. 

Anyway, hope you find the key and get him scoring a lot more and on his way to 1000!

As others have said you'll probably need to either switch tactics,or sell Guedes and Silva since they're taking all the goals up and buy replacements that will compliment Gomes. Good luck!
