Tactics 2-4-1-3 Gung-ho!

This has been the tactic that I have been using for my 1k challenge  . Although it has not produced the best results for my selected 1k-er player, it has worked wonders for most teams.

The main tactic:

It works for most games. If your adversary does overpower you in midfield ( usually if they play 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 ) Then pull back the AP:

 

If you do fall behind by 1 or 2 goals, you can also push the wings forward and change the team mentallity:

If you want your striker to score 1000 goals you gotta make sure he's alone up there. There are exceptions to that but just to go at it the easy way playing a 1-striker formation, especially with a player of Ze Gomes' skills, is the best way to go. Alternatively playing two with one as "creator" and another, Gomes, as "scorer" works well too. Right now he's sharing the goals with the two other forwards alongside him. You could play his two fellow strikers on the flanks and drop those wingers a line or two. Or turn a forward into an extra defender. There's endless possibilities, but you need to focus on Gomes getting balls from left and right to make him score 50+ at least.

Maybe read a few 1KC careers, there's a lot of useful pointers in those too. Can't help too much you gotta create your own tactics for these challenges

What BatiGoals is saying is correct, you realistically should ensure that the primary source of goals is Ze Gomes. I've been using a 2-5-2-1 formation for my 1KC, and it works a lot better than three strikers, in my opinion. Obviously, you can't copy my formation as it has to be your own work, but I've found that wingers (or even pacy wingbacks) are the key to giving the main striker goals.

I'm using a 2-2-3-3 formation with 2 DLFs. Working wonders for me right now ;D (2nd season still in progress, currently top in goals (84) and assists (22) in 61 apps). Maybe because Dybala doesn't have much aerial so he needs someone else to help him!

 

@BatiGoal Also, I'm using 2DC - 2CM - 3AM(R/L/C) - 3ST so does that count as a own tactic? (cos I see the other guy using it)

As far as I'm concerned, any formation that isn't blatantly taken from someone else's career will do. With so many players here at the moment there's bound to be near identical formations so don't worry too much about it.

Besides, a good formation is only half the work. People still need to put the right players in the right spot and tweak countless times during these 1KC careers. I see a lot of managers starting this 1000 goals career but very few are able to complete it
