FC Twente

After almost losing their license for professional football, the Dutch club FC Twente from Enschede had to cut in their budget. They sold star player Hakim Ziyech to Ajax.
The first results in the pre-season were bad, so the board of directors decided to fire head coach Rene Hake and decided to sign an up-and-coming manager.

The Dutch manager Jeroen Kuijk was from now on the new head coach for FC Twente.

The first press conference

Interviewer : you're the new manager. What do you expect of your players the next season?
Jeroen Kuijk : last season has been a let down for supporters. The club almost lost their license because of financial issues. We've found new investors in the club and are hoping to be back on track.
Interviewer : I'm sure the board of directors have set some goals for this season as last season was bad. FC Twente almost relegated from the Eredivise
Jeroen Kuijk : We're hoping to be pushing for a mid-table spot this season. Within 2 years we want to be a regular top 5 club with European aspirations. That's why we have the new investors. We have a budget of €17.750.000,- to improve our facilities and to strengthen our squad.
Interviewer : what facilities are you wanting to improve over the next season?
Jeroen Kuijk : we're hoping to improve our youth facilities. Currently we have great facilities and excellent training facilities, but to be a regular in the European competition you have to create world-class facilities. This is our main improvement for the next years.

The second press conference
Interviewer : After that devastating loss against Chelsea, do you expect to have a good start in the competition.
Jeroen Kuijk : Every match is different. You know beforehand that Chelsea is the ultimate test. We expected to have a tough match, but we couldn't fight them off. It's disappointing to see that your team is not ready for the top yet.
Interviewer : Are there any investments coming to the team?
Jeroen Kuijk : Perhaps. We got Renato Tapia on loan from Feyenoord, he has the potential to become a world-class player. It is up to us to make him that world class player.

That's it for now. Next up : the start of the Eredivisie at Woudesteijn in Rotterdam, where Excelsior awaits.

This club and its supporters have been through so many high and lows in the past few years. Absolute high winning the Eredivisie in 2009-10 but as you mentioned they nearly lost their license due to major financial irregularities. I do hope they come back and bring more competition and excitement to the Dutch league.

Looking forward to this. Best of luck!

Thanks! The pre-season isn't very hopeful. But indeed, the club is rebuilding so we can't expect them to be top tier within one season.

The start of the Eredivisie

After the dramatic pre-season. Kuijk decided to change his tactics. FC Twente always was a neutral club, playing regular attractive football. In the pre-season Kuijk thought it was too 'defensive' and went for a complete overhaul of his tactics.

Jeroen Kuijk : In the pre-season the playing was sloppy, defensive and not really attractive. We didn't score much and we let our opponents score to often. I tried to have everyone focus on the matches.

FC Twente was starting this season with an away game at Woudestein against Excelsior and then two games at the Grolsch Veste against Vitesse and Willem II and then the tough match against PSV at the Philips Stadion.

The third press conference

Interviewer : After a disappointing draw against Excelsior, you rediscovered yourself and won against Vitesse. What exactly changed?
Jeroen Kuijk : First of all we played way more attacking, we kept pressure on Vitesse. The short passing over both flanks was really effective because their weakest positions are the back positions. We know Vitesse were a very creative team, so we chose to play very physical with Renato Tapia replacing Kyle Ebicilio. Sonny Stevens wasn't maken a great impression, so we gave Marsman a chance to prove himself.
Interviewer : For which positions are you currently looking for reinforcements?
Jeroen Kuijk : I can't tell you, because that would upset my players, but we have three very young goalkeepers, we hope to attract an experienced one, so he can help develop the younger keepers. We also do not have many attackers, so we're still looking for a back-up forward.

The league table

After five games the league table looks like this

Transfers

FC Twente has not invested in players. There are however, rumors that Brazilian wonderkid Ribamar will be joining FC Twente in the next transferperiod.

In the first matches Twente were lacking confidence. There were lots of injuries, regular striker Unal went out for about 3 monthes and also back-up striker Jari Oosterwijk was injured.

Head coach Kuijk had promoted Joël Drommel from the youth team, to play his first game of the season in a match for the KNVB beker against DOS Kampen.

Cupfighters

The first opponent in the KNVB Beker has been overcome. Twente had to travel to DOS Kampen, an amateur club. At Sportpark de Maten, Twente gave DOS no breathing space at all, finishing at a devastating 0-5 win over the amateurs.

With Ünal and Oosterwijk injured, Kuijk had to start with Torgeir Borven, who made a hattrick in his first game of the season, could this be the start of something beautifull?

ere7.jpg.12b882f5c36e6e2809d501d2c48253a4.jpg

Competition struggles

A draw against Excelsior and Willem II was not the way Kuijk has planned the start of the Eredivisie, however being in fifth place, Twente did very well, thanks to their victories over Vitesse and SC Heerenveen.

The first Eredivisie match following the win against Heerenveen, was Roda JC. The stubborn club from Limburg has a very tough defence and knows how to make the best of a quick counter.

ere6.jpg.a3800e2917be656dad4b1e276589c927.jpg

After Roda, we had the first cup match against DOS Kampen. The 0-5 was very helpfull as the Twente players gained a lot of confidence for the following matches.

ere111.jpg.1cf12d4e1a5ae10a3540f4f11db58050.jpg

Twente has now won four Eredivisie matches in a row and the fans are starting to believe something beautiful could happen this season, however, Jeroen Kuijk stays with both feet on the ground, knowing FC Twente is only 10 matches in and that it's not even february yet.

Press Conference

Interviewer : do you think this run of four consecutive victories will last?
Jeroen Kuijk : we have a few tough matches coming up, we got Heracles, Sparta, FC Groningen and AFC Ajax in our upcoming four Eredivise duels. These will be tough matches. We're hoping to get a positive result against Sparta en Heracles, but as you know, Groningen and Ajax are powerful teams with a lot of quality.

Interviewer : you've won the first match in the KNVB Beker and you've drawn Jupiler League club Achilles '29 in the next round at home. How do you think this will work out?
Jeroen Kuijk : we know we have the quality to win a match against Achilles '29, they're not in their best form in the Jupiler League sitting in 17th place, but we know they have a talented young squad. Just like every game we have to be the best team we can to try and achieve a result. Doing this at home with the fantastic support of our own Grolsch Veste, we should be able to advance in the tournament. After all, the cup is the quickest way towards the Europa League.

Update from the coaching staff

Theo Snelders, the goalkeeping coach at FC Twente has achieved his gold coaching badge! This accomplishment marks the quality of both players and staff at the club and makes the board feel like something special could happen!

Transfer

FC Twente is currently negotiating with Bosman players. They will hopefully be joining the club in January 2017 and will be presented to our fans as soon as possible.

Old Twente youth star Thijs Bouma, who didn't renew his contract with De Graafschap might be on his way back to his old club!

jong-fc-twente-jong-az-29.jpg.2430d87283c2b4d55086414fab4526df.jpg

Brazilian superstar and wonderkid Ribamar has let FC Twente know they can not pay him what he demands. Twente will be on the lookout for future reinforcements.

Next update ; January transfer window! Which means I'll not have an update the coming five matches, there will be more matches in the next update.

Manager Jeroen Kuijk on the Quarter Final fixture:
We are really looking forward to this match. Feyenoord have a great team with lots of talents from their own academy like Tonny Vilhena, Rick Karsdorp and Terence Kongolo. Playing in De Kuip is always special, the audacity of that stadium is really intimidating because their supporters are hungry for succes. Their last championship was in 1999 and they won the KNVB Beker last year, they will be looking forward to defend their title. We expect them to play really attacking, their coach, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a great trainer with lots of tactical insight, it will be tough, but that makes us extra motivated for the fixture. They're 7th in the league and are 10 points behind the number 1, they won't become champion this year, so they will be extremely motivated to win the cup.

Kamohelo Mokotjo has played every Eredivisie duel, with 19 duels, 2 assists en 4 goals he's an important team player.
Dylan Seys has earned a full transfer to Twente after being on loan. In 19 games he made 2 goals and gave 10 assists.
Matheusz Klich is an important part of FC Twentes midfield. Playing 21 games, netting 7 goals and 5 assists.
Torgeir Borven has proven to be a top notch striker, finding the net 18 times in 18 official duels and creating 1 assist.

Press conference
Jeroen Kuijk : the last few months have been moving to say the least. We've had ups and downs and got some disappointing results ( Excelsior and Heracles ), but we also managed to stay in the race for the Eredivisie title, with those aspirations come large pressure. We have a strong team that can pull off anything whenever they believe in it.

Interviewer : Now you have attracted Dylan Seys for a longer stay at the club, what do you plan for the next season?
Jeroen Kuijk : we don't talk about next season. We're still in the running for the league title and are in the quarter finals of the cup tournament, why would we be talking about next season?

Interviewer : it seems other clubs are getting interested in Torgeir Borven, with 18 goals in 18 games he has the best average in this competition. Do you plan on selling him this January window?
Jeroen Kuijk : Torgeir will be staying with us till the end of the season, we want to achieve something great, and we need all our players to stay and give it their best, so we also need Torgeir. It is true that there are interested clubs, we have received an offer of €12.250.000 for him, but we think he's worth a lot more money.

Interviewer : after completing the signing of Seys for about €4.700.000, does FC Twente still wish to reinforce the squad?
Jeroen Kuijk : as a coach you're always looking for a way to strengthen your squad. That's why we have had a big injection in the youth program. We'had Cees Koch joining the main squad from the youth, he's a really strong striker who dominates the air. We're still working with him to improve his statistics, but at 18 years old, it's not a big deal that he has a long road to go.

Player of the first half
Torgeir Borven was chosen for the MVP of the first half of the season.

A new youngling for FC Twente

nieuwkoop.jpg.8dc956c03e1e83755932cfe7b5525d48.jpg

Feyenoord U21 talent Bart Nieuwkoop has joined FC Twente on a €3.700.000,- transfer.
The young right back has a lot of pace and energy, he's running the flanks for 90 minutes every game, this makes sure he's a very threatening player who can put in a decent cross.

Jeroen Kuijk on his new signing:

I've seen Bart play on many occasions. For the Holland U21 and for Feyenoord U21. It is clear to everybody that he has a lot of talent. We hope that he develops into a top player who can stand his ground in Europe.

What does this mean for FC Twente's right back Hidde ter Avest, who always was the first team regular?

It seems like Hidde ter Avest has put in a transfer request with his manager. He feels upset that FC Twente has bought RB Bart Nieuwkoop while Ter Avest was having a great season.

FC Twente reported that they are not interested in selling Hidde ter Avest.

'24 Matheusz Klich 1-1

This is turning into a beautiful career!

Bummer certain players like Ribamar refuse to join your club but Bart Nieuwkoop is a quality addition. And you're still doing great in all competitions. FC Twente are BACK!!!

Yeah, I know from other careers that Ribamar is a quality player. But Nieuwkoop should do the trick for now.
I already have transfer targets for next season. I need a good CM ( Ebicilio isn't really good and struggles to find his form ) and I need a right winger ( Vankan just isn't good enough ) I want a decent run in the Euro League next year, at least managing to make it through the group stage.

I know Rashaan Fernandes is a huge talent in FMM2017, especially for a club like FC Twente. Perhaps I'll try to get Bryan Ruiz back to Enschede.

Injury Madness

With FC Twente on top of the tables it seemed like nothing is going to stop them this season. In the match against Heerenveen however, certain regulars were injured.

List of injuries :
Joachim Andersen
Kamohelo Mokotjo
Enes Ünal
Bart Nieuwkoop
Giorgos Katsikas
Joël Drommel

This means Twente will have to reorganise and make sure that they don't lose too many points while doing so.

Scouting

FC Twente has been thinking about next season. They played Feyenoord three times over the last month and every match they have scouted a talented right winger from the Rotterdam club.
Bilal Basacikoglu. The pacy winger is believed to be a usefull addition to the starting 11 and might be joining FC Twente when the next summer hits.

Fixtures

The third and final meeting between Feyenoord and FC Twente this season. The first edition in the Eredivisie ended in a 0-0 draw. Feyenoord is desperate to win because they need the points in order to maintain their European Play-Off spot.

'86 Eljero Elia 1-0

AZ - FC Twente

FC Twente is still in first place, but they have to get the results coming in in order to stay on top. The whole top 5 has 45 points. FC Twente, Ajax, AZ, PSV and FC Utrecht. AZ will be hoping to get the win.

'34 Fred Friday1-0
'69 Joris van Overeem 2-0

FC Twente - PEC Zwolle

After being defeated two games in a row. The FC Twente supporters are hungry for a win. With just 9 games to go and 3 points behind number 1 AZ, the league title still seems very far away. FC Twente needs to get the win in their own stadium agains PEC Zwolle.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw.

FC Twente - ADO Den Haag

The supporters and the FC Twente board of directors are getting impatient. The club has dropped from first to fifth place in two matches and hasn't won in their last three. ADO Den Haag has won their last three matches and are climbing the tables.

Season 2017/2018

With FC Twente finishing 3rd in the last season, they were expecting to qualify for the Europa League. However, the KNVB ( Dutch FA ) has decided that the European ban they punished Twente with for the financial struggles, remains active. This means FC Twente will not play Europa League the coming season.

The first press conference of the season

Head coach Jeroen Kuijk is full on confidence when it comes to season 2017/2018.

'Last year we took a huge step back to where we belong, on top of the Eredivisie. Finishing third gave us a lot of perspective to do better next season. We started out great last season and we ended in a bit of a difficult situation but still managed to get the third place.

We have upgraded our youth facilities, so we expect to improve are U21 team. The goal we've set is to have 30% of the squad to be youth players within four season.

The transfers

Incoming Transfers
Kenedy ( loan ) from Chelsea
Dennis Praet ( loan ) from Sampdoria
Salva Ruiz ( loan ) from Valencia
Hamza Choudbury ( loan ) from Leicester City.
Danny Blum ( Bosman )
Kubilay Kanatsizkus ( €7.500.000 ) from Bursaspor

Outgoing Transfers
Matthew Maduro ( loan ) to MVV

Eray Eren ( Bosman )
Delano Grootenhuis ( Bosman )
Benaissa Benamar ( Bosman )
Razak Iddrisu ( Bosman )
Bryan Brusselers ( Bosman )
Sonny Stevens ( Bosman )

Furthermore, Jelle van der Heyden has returned from his loan spell at VVV Venlo. The central midfielder scored 11 goals, got 6 assists in 35 matches and has proven to be a real talent.

Alessio da Cruz has returned from his not so succesfull loan spell at FC Dordrecht. Netting 3 goals, 3 assists in 23 matches. He hopes to improve himself at FC Twente next year.

Goals

- Finish in a Champions League Qualification spot ( first or second )
- Reach the final of the KNVB Beker
- Improve youth facilities and make at least 3 youth players make their debut.

Youth

After last season, the assistant manager came up with four U21 starlets. They have all been let go, because manager Jeroen Kuijk did not believe they would be an addition to the first team of FC Twente.

The following youth players have been promoted to the first team:
Torino van Bezooijen : striker, 15 aerial, 12 dribbling, 13 shooting, 17 technique, 15 movement, 13 pace, 13 stamina and 12 strength;
Mounaim van Overbeek : DL, 11 tackling, 12 positioning, 10 stamina, 9 pace, 6 aerial and 9 strength

FC Twente will be looking to further improve their youth academy in the upcoming season.

Pre-season

Twente had a decent pre-season. While investing in their squad they played against De Graafschap , Southampton FC and Stuttgart.

Matches

Twente has been doing really wel. They're currently second in the division and have advanced to the third round of the KNVB Beker.

Twente is on their way to something beautiful. Only 3 points removed from Ajax and 1 point ahead of PSV. The gap between the first 6 teams is small, so anything could happen in this season.

Manager Jeroen Kuijk:

'We've had a great start in this competition. We only lost one match, to Vitesse, which was totally unnecessary. We should've won that match. I hope that we can crown ourselves champions at the end of the season.

Player in-form

Torgeir Borven is still in prolific form, scoring 27 goals already in this season.58b938c6d143b_Screenshot_20170303-1023331.thumb.png.dd81d286edd61c98d820bec679e8c9a4.png

Torgeir is on an average of 1.95 goals per match, which is unbelievable for an Eredivisie striker.

The board

The FC Twente board has made it clear that they want to become champions. They recognize the quality of the squad and the manager. They are however disappointed with the signing of Danny Blum on a Bosman transfer.

They are happy that Jeroen Kuijk is very strict with the wages. Players need to fight for a pay raise, not automatically get one.

The team

Goalkeepers
Joël Drommel
Matthew Maduro
Nick Marsman

Defenders
Jeroen van der Lely
Joachim Andersen
Giorgos Katsikas
Thijs Bouma
Bart Nieuwkoop
Hidde ter Avest
Bart Nieuwkoop
Salva Ruiz (loaned)
Stefan Thesker

Midfielders
Hamza Choudbury (loaned)
Richard Jensen
Kamohelo Mokotjo
Jelle van der Heyden
Randy David
Kyle Ebicilio
Darren Smeets
Chinedu Ede
Dennis Praet (loaned)
Eghan Shadrach
Matheusz Klich
Bob Vankan
Danny Blum

Attackers
Alessio da Cruz
Fredrik Jensen
Kenedy (loaned)
Dylan Seys
Smir Gvodzjar
Tim Hölscher
Ruben de Jager
Torino van Bezooijen
Torgeir Borven
Kubilay Kanatsizkus
Jari Oosterwijk.

In the winter period, Twente will probably sell or loan out 3 midfielders and 4 attackers.

News

Tim Hölscher has requested to leave FC Twente on a transfer in the upcoming transfer period. The attacker is supposedly unhappy in his current position on the bench and wants to leave for a club where he can be a first team regular.

FC Twente is going to the Champions League??

FC Twente is on their way to become champions of the Eredivisie. With only 8 games remaining they're 3 points in front of PSV and 9 points in front of Ajax. It seems pretty clear they will secure their goal to finish in a Champions League spot.

However, due to a KNVB ban for Twente, they will not be allowed to play European matches. The FC Twente board of directors is furious because FC Twente have their finances back on track and are arguably the best perfoming club in the Eredivisie this season. A representative from the board of directors made an official statement:

If the KNVB wants Dutch clubs to perform in Europe, they have to let the best club enter a tournament. We're in the KNVB Beker final, we're on top of the Eredivisie and are healthy when it comes to finances. It is irresponsible and a bad decision to keep banning FC Twente from Champions League football as we know we can achieve something beatifull.

The KNVB has not yet responded to this official statement.

Goals

Concerning the goals the board of directors have set for Jeroen Kuijk, he has been smashing their expectations in a positive way.
Youth players Bezooijen, David and Maduro have made their debut in the first team of FC Twente. The club is currently leading the Eredivisie table, being 3 points clear of PSV and having Ajax at a distance of 9 points with only 8 games to play. The club has reached the final of the KNVB Beker in which they will play against Ajax.

Players in form

Tolgeir Borven is still in prolific form, scoring 40 goals in 31 matches. The striker proves to be one of the best strikes in the Eredivisie at the moment. The big clubs will definitely be watching him for the next season.

Joël Drommel has been a great goalkeeper for FC Twente. Conceding 23 goals in 30. Drommel has kept a clean sheet on many occasions throughout the season and is developing into a steady regular goalkeeper.

Youngster Alessio da Cruz has been very important to FC Twente this season. After a bad loan period at Dordrecht, the youngster took his chance and has been a very inspirational addition to the FC Twente team.

Press conference

Jeroen Kuijk is a proud manager, but also a manager that is slowly getting known around the continent. There are several clubs who are interested in landing the young Dutch manager. Among the list of clubs are Burnley, Schalke and Feyenoord.

Jeroen Kuijk :

I'm not interested in changing clubs at this moment. I still feel that there's a lot of room for improvement at FC Twente and that we can achieve something great. The last time a Dutch club has won an European Trophy was in 2002 when Feyenoord beat Dortmund in the final of the UEFA Cup. We want to change that. As soon as our ban is lifted, we'll charge into the European top teams and make sure everyone world wide knows who FC Twente are and what a great competition the Eredivisie can be again. I'm proud of my squad and pledge my future to this club.

In the next update we´ll see who wins the cup and who will be crowned champion. Perhaps the KNVB has decided to lift the European ban on FC Twente.

FC TWENTE BAN LIFTED!

FC Twente are allowed to play European Football from season 2019/2020

The KNVB has decided to lift the ban on FC Twente starting the 2019/2020 season, which means they still have to qualify in the 2018/2019 season which is on the verge of starting.

After winning both the Eredivisie and the KNVB beker last year, FC Twente will be hoping to achieve the same. A spokesperson for the KNVB has said:

The board of directors made a clear point last season. Why would we ban our best club from the UEFA Champions League? We hope that FC Twente will qualify this season as from next season, the ban will be lifted. UEFA has taken notice of the lifting of our ban and has stated that FC Twente is more than welcome in the European club competitions.

Doing the double!

Last season, FC Twente became champions of the Eredivisie and won the KNVB Beker in a 2-1 win over Ajax in the final. The FC Twente board of directors have renewed the contract with manager Jeroen Kuijk and have doubled his paycheck in the hopes of him staying at the club for the next three years.

Kuijk has signed the contract and is looking forward to next season:

The last few weeks have been amazing to say the least. We became champion of Holland, we won the cup and can win one more prize at the start of next season, the Johan Cruijff Schaal. The investors have made it clear that now the ban is lifted FC Twente has to qualify for the Champions League and have given us €50.000.000,- to invest in players, youth and staff.

Concerning staff, we have said goodbye to our beloved physio Chris van der Veeken who goes on a well deserved retirement and have signed David Binningsley as our new physio. He has proven to be a great physio at Aston Villa and we welcome him with open arms.

We also renewed the contract of one of our biggest talents, Jeroen van der Lely, we hope he continues to grow and perform the next season.

Transfers

Incoming
Mats Knoester (€16.500.000) from Feyenoord
Stijn van Gassel (€6.500.000) from FC Utrecht
Marten de Roon (€22.500.000) from Middlesbrough, however he will join the club from 01/01/2019

Outgoing:

Thijs Bouma ( Bosman )
Lex Roberts ( Bosman )
David Hamdaoui ( Bosman )
Daniel Lelieveld ( Bosman )
Kars Philips ( Bosman )
Jordi Krüzen ( Bosman )
Bart Nieuwkoop on loan to FC Basel
Fredrik Jensen on loan to Roda JC
Torino van Bezooijen to Longa '30
Nick Marsman to Braunschweig for €110.000
Torgeir Borven to Palermo for €15.250.000

Twente is also looking for a new winger who might be joining the club in January as Chinedu Ede is retiring at the end of this season. Although it's FC Twente's new policy to work with as much Dutch players as they can, so the amount of wingers to choose from is limited. Twente hopes to sign a great winger from their own youth academy.

Youth Players

FC Twente is known for their quality youth players.
Due to disciplinary reasons Richard Jensen has been demoted to the reserves, the player was caught napping during training for three times in the past month.
Their current youth team exists out of:

Goalkeepers
Ryan Nelson, 20yo, CA 1.5* PA 3*

Defenders
Rafael Brands, 20yo, CA 1.5* PA 2.5*
Richard Jensen

Midfielers
Dennis Brobbey, 19yo, CA 1.5* PA 4*
Rien Bakker, 19yo, CA 1.5* PA 3.5*

Attackers
Ties Meppelink, 20yo, CA 1.5* PA 3*

Twente hopes that these players can break into the first team this year.

Injuries

FC Twente seems to have a lot of bad luck lately. During their first 2 Eredivisie matches of the season the following players were injured:

- Jeroen van der Lely
- Giorgos Katsikas
- Joachim Andersen
- Mats Knoester

All of these central defenders are expected to be in full training soon.

Player Statistics

In the latest matches, Torgeir Borven seemed a little bit out of form. The forward has a lot of trouble with finding the net and has last his place in the starting eleven. He is replaced by the young Jari Oosterwijk who is yet to prove himself on Eredivisie level. Twente might be looking to sell Borven while he stall has a value.

Bob Vankan seems to be in great shape lately. The young player is replacing the injured Alessio da Cruz on the left wing and is as cool as you like in front of goal. We foresee a bright future for this player.

In the next update I'll start the matches for Season 3 ( 2018/2019 ) at FC Twente. I won't be around for the weekend, so I'll probably update the whole season at once.

A lost season for FC Twente

FC Twente has had a horrible season. Being 6th in the Eredivisie and eliminated from the KNVB Beker in the Quarter Finals.
The club has released an official statement:

The board of directors of FC Twente have decided to break the contract between FC Twente and manager Jeroen Kuijk. Following the bad results and the negative squad harmony we've had a good conversation and have agreed upon the release of the manager.

We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

FC Twente have fired manager Jeroen Kuijk.

Jeroen Kuijk has commented on his firing : It is unbelievable that FC Twente have made this decision. We've won the cup, we've won the league. We have a few bad results and all of a sudden all the trust is gone? I gave FC Twente my all the past 3 seasons. I hope they qualify for the Europa League next season. I'll be following them in the future. I love the club, the fans and the players and hope that they will remember me as the manager who gave them their quality club back.

Sparta Rotterdam is seemingly interested in signing Jeroen Kuijk. Sparta currently plays in the Jupiler League and is qualified for the play-offs for promotion/relegation.

Meh, the season 2018/2019 was really bad. After 27 matches ( 8 wins, 12 draws and 7 losses ) I got fired. Was 6th in the league and reached the QF of the cup.

Ah man that sucks! Was really enjoying this.

I know the world of football can be a mean one just look at Ranieri at Leicester for example. But this is Holland and I'm almost certain this wouldn't happen in real life. Not in the middle of the season being 6th in the league, they'd see it out and maybe try a new approach in a new campaign. I remember Feyenoord 1 or 2 seasons ago going 9 games without a win where expectations are even higher and they still stood by their manager.. a sad way to end your journey.

Thanks for sharing your career tho, it was enjoyable. Or..? Is there a continuation in the making with Sparta?

Manager Kuijk has found a new job!

An interesting twist to the tale of manager Jeroen Kuijk. The manager has won the KNVB Beker and the Eredivisie with FC Twente and got fired the year after for not living up to the expectations.

At first, Sparta was believed to be his new destination, however the headstrong manager was thinking otherwise. He has joined HHC Harderberg as manager. The amateur club recently got promoted to the Jupiler League and Kuijk thinks that he is up to the challenge.

HHC Harderberg

HHC Harderberg does not have any technical staff. Manager Kuijk has found 3 old-professional players available for a role at the club. Stijn Schaars is the assistant coach. The old PSV player has played 19 caps in his career.

His old head scout from FC Twente, Michel Jansen has joined Kuijk at Harderberg. The other scout is Theo Zwarthoed, the keeper who has played for many Jupiler League clubs. And the physio is Ramon Zomer, another old professional player with loads of Eredivisie experience.

Goals

HHC Harderberg are hoping to stay clear from relegation this year.

To achieve this, HHC Harderberg has made a transferbudget of €60.000 available for the coach, who most likely has to loan a lot of players.

Transfers

Pascal Huser ( Emmen ) on loan
Emre Bal ( Almere City ) on loan
Mark Bruintjes ( Stevo ) on loan
Jeroen Buitenhuis ( Berkum ) €6.000
Marcel Kongolo ( DETO ) €2.000

The squad

The squad of HHC Harderberg are mostly grey players.

Goalkeepers
Joey Braafheid
Alessandro Damen
Donny Darri
Harm Zeinstra

Defenders
Bryan van Wermeskerken
Jerold Promes
Luuk Stans
Jurre Vreman
Danny Rutjes
Abdelhak van Duinen
Ger Drost
Mark Bruintjes

Midfielders
Lorenzo Davids
Jeroen Buitenhuis
Darren Smeets
Dani Koks
Emre Bal
Gustavo Hamer
Richairo van Gassel
Wouter Sneijder
Marcel Kongolo

Attackers
Pascal Huser
Bas Nouri
Leandro de Kler

Jupiler League

The Jupiler League is a bit different from the normal leagues. To get promoted from the Jupiler League to the Eredivisie you have to either win the Jupiler League ( be on top after 36 matches ) or qualify through the play-offs.

To be part of the play-offs, you have to win a periodical title. Each period consists of 9 playing rounds. Per period, the one who performs the best in the 9 rounds ( wins ) is automatically qualified for the play-offs.

There are 4 periods, so there are 4 teams who qualify for a chance of promotion to the Eredivisie.

HHC - Helmond 0-0

Second round
HHC - De Graafschap 3-4
De Graafschap - HHC 5-5

Press conference

Jeroen Kuijk:
After two really exciting matches against De Graafschap, we have unfortunately not qualified for the Eredivisie. We've come very close and we have achieved something no one expected from us, we'll be looking forward to next season.

We finished tenth in the league. That's very special because everybody thought we would relegate. We have expanded our stadium and improved our youth facilities. We also got extra money from the board to invest in players like Ferdi Kadioglu and Mike van Duinen.

We scored a total of 70 goals and 55 goals against. We're looking forward to our next season.

Transfers

In:
James Resida ( Jong FC Utrecht ) for 120k

Out:
Bram Darri ( Bos )

The next season will follow asap
