Totally unlucky mate, you came so close and only just missed out. Akpom must have helped a charity or something, or bribes, one of the two

Season 9

Germany

So after Petagna came just two shy of the record last season, I was hoping this was the year we finally break the 67 goal record and get my name on another of @BatiGoals leaderboards 

So lets crack on shall we

The first thing as always was to bring in some new players, and hell I went a bit nuts

Coming In

Plenty of players coming in this season, to be backups or new starters, my defence got a big injection of talent with Mbemba, Passlack and Santos coming in as new starters.  Rajkovic came in as my new starting GK, Recordier came in as a good CD/CM option along with Buenaventure who was a star in midfield, Mosquera came in as my new RW, then Kenedy, Guillou and Perez came in as backup options

Going Out

Not a lot in the way of going out, Kliment and Jubal leaving for pittance then the rest just unwanted graduate players

So with the squad strengthened we set off to get the elusive 68 goals needed to complete the challenge.

Here's how the season went

We started off poorly with a loss to Dortmund in the Euro Supercup

A brace from Petagna sees off Bayen and we clinch the German Supercup

We progress through the UCL group stages with a clean sweep (this was where Petagna was showing his class)

He grabs 4 in a 5-0 thrashing of Corinthians to see us crowned Club World Champions (can't remember the last time I competed in this one)

We're knocked out of the German Cup in the semi finals 

We manage to secure the League title on the last day of the season having trailed behind Hoffenheim for the whole of the season up until the last game, where we drew with Mainz and they lost to Dortmund which saw us crowned Bundesliga Champions

And after progressing through the knockout rounds beating Inter, Bayern and Arsenal we go on to face Real Madrid and give them a good thumping to see us crowned champions of Europe 

 So a fantastic season for the team but the important bit is how did Petagna get on, well let's have a look

This was his form early on in the season

Just blistering, the guy just couldn't stop scoring (apart from those three games before anyone jumps on me)

Here's his tally by the start of the new year

45 goals in 26 games, and I was very confident (save another stupid injury) he would grab those 68 goals

He also seemed to impress the rest of the world

Named WPOTY (and still never had a call up to the Italian National Side)

His form continued 

Then thanks to a Hat-trick against Inter, he got to the magic 67

So now tied for the record and with 2 months of games left the record is as good as his (but he decided to make me panic by falling off the face of the Earth for 4 games

But he waited until the next European Game against Bayern to finally net goal number 68

CHALLENGE COMPLETED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a season, he almost gave me a heart attack with that dry spell, but his form wasn't the same but did pick back up towards the end, when we needed him most

So Here's how our boy looked at the end of my time in Germany

Look at those stats, how can you not give him a national call up, he's quick, strong, great shooting and aerial ability, this lad is defo a choice for a 1K (he's 21 at the start of the game not impossible to do)

Here's how he ended the season

77 goals in 55 games (11 more goals in 2 more games than last season)

So impressed with this lad.

Cheers dude, finally landed in Spain for my Western Europe Club Challenge, but that's going to take a lot of building, had an idea for a challenge that I wanted to run past @Ashez and @BatiGoal to get their thoughts but might keep that for next years game as there is so much going on this year

It's worth a go dude, just signed him in Spain with my Western Club challenge to see how he gets on with the big boys at Barcelona
