Update 1

Afternoon all and welcome to Update 1 of the Sticker Book Collector. Don't know if there was any confusion with the rules of this fun little challenge, but here they are  as a reminder....

- Must start unemployed

- I have a Sticker Book for each league.

- To collect a clubs sticker in my album, I must go 5 games undefeated in all comps.

- After this run, I must resign and move onto another club.

- The aim is to complete this with every club in English Football.

Seems simple, right? Let's crack on with update 1....

After loading up the game and holidaying a few months, this is the oppertunity that came to me....

Not a bad little job to start us off with. We join the club in a mid table position ( can't remember exactly), so how did we do?

Every club in English football? That's gonna take a while lol but very fun concept.

I remember doing those Pannini sticker/card albums when I was a kid. Not sure if I ever did a challenge on that but this sure reminds me of that ;)

Oh guys, what have I done now? I'm not actually playing this save any more, it was more of a disguise for what I'm really doing....

Premier League Second Chances Challenge

Sorry for any confusion, but I will be attempting this challenge now. Didn't want to make a new thread, so stuck it on here. After seeing Scratch99 start over in Catalonia, I thought I'd start a bit different aswell. Therefore, I'm going with the mighty Chelsea for season 1. The reason for this is because they have a massive array of loan players, meaning I can ship them out at the start of season 2. Sorry again for any misunderstanding, please leave a comment on how you think I will do!

Hello guys and welcome to update 1 of....

The PL Second Chances Challenge

A brilliant challenge by @kts365, it's clear to see why so many people are attempting it at the moment. Below is the original challenge....

On 28/02/2017 at 20:53, kts365 said:

Introduction

The English premier league has been around for 25 years. In that time there have been a total of 47 teams which have competed within it.

These are those teams.

  Reveal hidden contents

Arsenal, Aston villa, Barnsley, Birmingham city, Blackburn rovers, Blackpool, Bolton wanderers, Bournemouth, Bradford city, Burnley, Cardiff city, Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Coventry city, crystal palace, Derby County, Everton, Fulham, Hull City, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester city, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, Portsmouth, QPR, Reading, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton, Stoke City, Sunderland, Swansea City, Swindon Town, Spurs, Watford, West Brom, West Ham, Wigan Athletic, Wimbledon, Wolves.

Of these teams only 6 have won the league. Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City.

The Challenge

Currently there are 20 teams in the Premier league, the basic premise is to assure all 27 of the other former competitors have at least one more season in the Premier league.

So the following clubs must be promoted into the Premier league at some point, whether under your management or not.

  Reveal hidden contents

Aston villa, Barnsley, Birmingham city, Blackburn rovers, Blackpool, Bolton wanderers, Bradford city, Cardiff city, Charlton Athletic, Coventry city, Derby County, Fulham, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, Portsmouth, QPR, Reading, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon Town, Wigan Athletic, Wimbledon, Wolves

You don't have to manage all of these teams, just make sure they get into the Premier league.

For the purposes of this challenge Wimbledon are replaced by either MK Dons or AFC Wimbledon.

Points Scoring

You get 2 points for every team you manage to get into the league, if you achieve all 27 you gain an extra point for each year less than 30 it has taken (e.g. all 27 teams in 25 years gets you 5 extra points).

Finally, you gain 5 bonus points for each of the 6 former winners if they win the premier league again during your career (only once each, a maximum of 30 points).

This will rely on both your own managerial skill and some luck too.

There will be a leaderboard if anybody takes up the challenge. It is of course a long challenge but hopefully it is worth it.

Rules

  1. Proof will be needed via screenshots of the Premier league each year and the former league winners at the end of the career.
  2. No unlockables unless gained during the course of the career
  3. No use of any editors
  4. No cheating, that includes reloading.

So, now that you get he basis of the challenge, let's begin, shall we?

After seeing @Mr.Manager start in the lower leagues of England and hearing tales of @scratch99'a time in Catalonia, I decided to start with the mighty Chelsea....

IMG_6643.thumb.PNG.3463e02991de59709093e2a9266bab2f.PNG

My reasoning behind this is that they have a large budget, which I can use to grant second chance teams funds, and an array of young talent that can be shipped off to the needed clubs. So, how did we spend our money?

Outs

IMG_6666.thumb.PNG.6b59c4cc453d15cb3d3429f50fda3337.PNG

Where to start with this. Hazard goes after I found out he really isn't vital to the side, and his replacement is better anyway. Loftus-Cheek goes to Forest as part of a deal for another's player, and Chalobah spends a season in League 1 with Bradford.

Ins

IMG_6667.thumb.PNG.1a78e160bc6ca71571ba4080ef34c81f.PNGIMG_6668.thumb.PNG.25ce4d5d9619948fb3bd9d3f940d5603.PNGIMG_6669.thumb.PNG.e3188055f84eaa76eb12051279a508a4.PNG

Jeez. We spend 164 Million on several different players, most of which being for the funding of the Second Chance teams. The top three transfers are my only normal ones, with Milinkovic-Savic being Hazard's replacement, and a decent one at that. Zappacosta and Plattenhardt are full back replacements if Azpilicueta or Alonso are ever injured or suspended.

Tactical....Mishaps

Just a few screenshots of annoying moments really

Spoiler

We should have 9 points from these three games!

Competitions

Going to keep this short and sweet so we can get to the good bit....

EFL Cup

IMG_6654.thumb.PNG.abb11e7a63b5f690598d8e0f85333e36.PNGIMG_6671.thumb.PNG.9618c2755a70bee1049d32f09eac89a9.PNG

We run out victorious here, a tight-ish game nonetheless!

:S:(

Premier Division

IMG_6656.thumb.PNG.c5656eed7a9dfb680c11a4d570ea51fc.PNG

A tight title race sees us come in a respectable 3rd, 3 points off eventual winners City. However, as City are one of the former winners, we gain an extra point :D

Norwich and Newcastle go up into the Premier League, meaning we cross 2 off our list, with only 25 left to go! However, Wigan go down meaning some extra leg work needed from myself later on!

IMG_6662.thumb.PNG.fb74163f65e4e2b32e0145beab512735.PNGIMG_6663.thumb.PNG.be037fc44172a9a653f73d2cb767af4e.PNG

And finally, Portsmouth miss out in the playoffs, whilst Blackpool secure a mid-table finish. A little disappointing, hopefully one of the 2 can get promoted next year.

Great approach to tgus challenge. I love the different approaches so far to This

Cheers mate! Just looked through and they seemed the ideal candidate.

There are so many ways to try this, it's unbelievable! You could start with a championship side that doesn't need to be promoted, and keep throwing all of your games to Second Chance Opposition, or start as a National team and pick really bad players from Second Chance teams. The reason for this is, from experience, Lower leagues players values explode after international cap's, and if they sell there is a lot of profit.

Great stuff! Definitely interesting to see a few different attempts at this challenge. Generally the first few seasons will be quite routine, so I'm looking forward to seeing where you'll be after that

Cheers mate! Hopefully in season 2 and 3 we can see just Second Chance teams promoted, I've got a new transfer method that could work quite nicely. I'm enjoying this so much my Journey save has barely been played!

Great start and you're definitely ahead of me, because I've got 3.5 teams in League 1 (the .5 being AFC Wimbledon). Also interesting that you're taking quite a different approach from me - but that's what makes this challenge so great! Can't wait for your next update. :)

Thanks a lot mate! Yeah, only got Blackpool and Pompey to go up, but in season 2 I've moved to 1 of those clubs and we are both in the promotion spots, so it's looking good. A fantastic challenge, as you say. I really want to play it mate, and am about 40% through the season, but I have 2 other saves to play aswell! Cheers pal @scratch99

Lads lads, I have a development. I'M BACK! Yep, everything's sorted and with that fantastic announcement I bring you....

PL Second Chances Challenge - Update 2

So, after our first season with Chelsea, I planned to jump ship pretty early in order to bring up some smaller clubs. My first plan was to spend EVERYTHING. I hadn't quite built up the war chest @scratch99 has, but a solid 100 Million was good enough....

Ins

IMG_6757.thumb.PNG.45157ce915b3ddebfdaf75fd94683f3f.PNGIMG_6758.thumb.PNG.9cd1c57620830c7e91bf9367b6a3e4a8.PNG

I had a very sneaky plan to weaken all of the relegated EPL teams, aswell as some Championship stragglers so our Second Chance teams stay afloat. We make 8 transfers from the relegated sides, aswell a season poaching some small players from side so like Preston and Brentford.

Outs

IMG_6802.thumb.PNG.cb2404bd438e2b4bd423541127eb98da.PNGIMG_6803.thumb.PNG.14c0adbbe6e3bec7ed952bb9a0bec315.PNG

Basically, let a few players such as Tammy Abraham and some of the championship players I signed last year jump ship for player swap deals.

Developments

So, about 10 games into the season, I checked the job centre to see if there were any openings. I saw one and jumped at it....

IMG_6706.thumb.PNG.90544c20ec45b2dab73d572445026ea0.PNG

Yes, the mighty tangerines. From what I remember, @Mr.Manager started his journey here, so it seems I'm jumping on a trend :D I join Blackpool after around 15 games and they lie in about 7th place. There is promise here....

January Window

IMG_6742.thumb.PNG.088acb0940585731e54868dbfe53a1cd.PNG

Thought I'd pop this little screenie in here so you can see some of the development the club needed. A threadbare squad when I joined, some of these players, such as Melo, Simmons, Singleton and Dixon add a much needed spine to an otherwise vulnerable squad.

League Campaign

IMG_6790.thumb.PNG.969442a3ebb890cf5e1b9b710c9ad7b4.PNG

Easy stuff. A clear win which sees us break the leagues in game points record by 10, and Pompey come up with us. Perfect season :D

Player Stats (If you're interested)

In case anybody wants to see, here is the player statistics for the season....

Also....

IMG_6744.thumb.PNG.ed488d1a0d6393f9f81b7616120dd9cb.PNG

Midway through the year I saw this pop up. With Oldham struggling, I was almost tempted to take it, but decided to stay with Blackpool. More in a second....

League Tables

IMG_6804.thumb.PNG.0956c15cd6f48a2f8707af61832a0cd1.PNG

United win the league, meaning we have 2 out of the 8 required league winners.

My plan both worked and failed. We condemned Preston to the 3rd division, but Blackburn and the Dons go down with them. Meanwhile. Wednesday and Wolves go up, meaning we have 23 teams left, and Southampton decided NOT to read the script and join them in the Premier League.

IMG_6792.thumb.PNG.90d9ff81ac8713f9b64c218b2b064c3a.PNGIMG_6793.thumb.PNG.13c80589c4df9378675db8dbf6f115d6.PNG

We see Bolton return, meaning we have one less side to worry about, but mid-table finishes for Bradford, Coventry and Wigan mean there is some work to be done there. Oldham, who I mentioned earlier, drop to League 2.

IMG_6790.thumb.PNG.969442a3ebb890cf5e1b9b710c9ad7b4.PNGIMG_6791.thumb.PNG.ad8d8e20b3d440ab28b3b0a68831ce1d.PNG

And Blackpool and Pompey go up, meaning we have just 1 team in League 2 now.

Hello everybody and welcome to....

The PL Second Chances Challenge - Update 3

Ill tell you guys now, this may be the most addictive save I've ever played. I can't stop, even when I had a dreadful run of form (more on that later) I kept playing. Hats off to @kts365 because this is just phenomenal :D

Anyway, let's begin. We start season 3 in Sky Bet League 1, with the objective of promotion as quick as possible. Could we manage it in our first year?

Transfers - Ins

IMG_6944.thumb.PNG.20cbcd468d00cd08cd1c2d4c2c21191a.PNG

We strengthen our squad massively in the summer with some high level bosmans. The addition of these lads really breathed quality into the side, as we will see later. Murphy joined us in January after an unexpected departure.

Outs

IMG_6945.thumb.PNG.cb99ca4f8f15e37ffae11f75c452f348.PNG

Boateng, who literally just joined us, decided to jump ship to the struggling Norwich in January. That damn big club release clause! We let a few lesser featuring players leave the camp, aswell as a few unwanted youth graduates.

Competitions

FA Cup

IMG_6970.thumb.PNG.1e875f610e955431aa6e3f865c051012.PNG

We fall to United in the cup, unfortunate draw but in fairness we didn't succumb to their constant barrage and actually gave them a fight.

EFL Cup

IMG_6971.thumb.PNG.e9411c4a1d6106ba0d88faddbeb090f1.PNG

Yet again, Premier League Opposition kick us out. We actually went ahead but their quality was too much, and we narrowly lose.

Checkatrade Cup/Trophy

IMG_6972.thumb.PNG.9036eec38e339e63945e9a6f94001ba0.PNG

How have we just lost this? We didn't perform and were punished accordingly.

So with all of this.... Failure in mind, how did the league go?

League Campaign

IMG_6919.thumb.PNG.8bb4c809a98e2035b3390cf8d6960183.PNG

Annoying. We were in Second for most of the year, only to fall at the final turn. Onto the Playoffs!

Playoff Semi-Final

IMG_6922.thumb.PNG.81effa6cd703f1f5df89629c6f328673.PNG

We squeeze past Wigan to set up a final tie with Gillingham.

Playoff Final

This is a long one....

IMG_6925.thumb.PNG.dd0c6d0202afcc34ae8df4ec4a0a25d2.PNG

And we deservedly take the lead after just over an hour. Can we hold on?

IMG_6926.thumb.PNG.e4ce1abd2a4c29886a61cfa6697e92aa.PNG

Disaster! Gillingham awarded a penalty! However, our keeper has a inceredible stopping rate at penalties, I don't think he's conceded one this year.

IMG_6927.thumb.PNG.e3bb4f0fe61491b59be3de2894112a12.PNG

Saved! Ripley denies the Gillingham fans the chance to celebrate with a stunning save!

But disaster strikes. I've got no screenshot of this because I was in shock. Appiah buries one in the last minute to send it to extra time!

A brilliant season. Really proud of all the lads.

So, a brilliantly Year for everybody involved with the club. Below is the seasonal fixture list.

That end of season form killed us, such a poor run. As you can see, we threw quite a few games this year, although it didn't seem to effect the table.

Job Oppertunities

Throughout the year, we received an array of job offers from bigger more established clubs. Below are some of them....

Aswell as getting a few offers from stragglers....

So overall, it seems I won't have a problem moving in the future!

League Tables

United win it again, meaning we don't get any way extra points this season unfortunately.

IMG_6937.thumb.PNG.a61e20cb04a8b5434b38ed539ee14b32.PNG

Frustrating. Only 1 club go up in Derby, whilst the Swans and Bristol ruin the party. Even more annoying was that QPR lost the Playoff final :@ On the other side of the table, we lose Sheffield United to relegation, whilst Norwich also go down. Luckily, they have already been promoted to the premier league a few seasons ago, so we don't have to save them.

Us and the Dons go up to the Championship, whilst everybody else finishes mid-table. Maybe we will return to the third division next year to bring some clubs up? Wimbledon go down, but I've give up on them already

And Oldham sneak a playoff victory and return to League 1, giving us a bit less work to do in a few seasons time.

Current Division Of Second Chance Teams

Championship: 14

League 1: 8

League 2: 0

Not sure if I've added that up right though

Cheers bud, this may be the most enjoyable career I've had on FMM so far, so addictive and challenging and so much you can do with it. Really enjoying taking Blackpool up, think I'm gonna leave this year though. Cheers mate! @kts365
