Taff Attempts the "Alphabet/nation Lock/TT

Season H

So after a steller performance by Ze Germans we move on to a little country that most people have probably never heard of as they haven't ever really done much (especially in the World of Football), but I thought I'd give this little nation a go Welcome to Season H

Holland

Thats right we have the joy of watching the Orange brigade in action here and am looking forward to seeing them finally beat the Germans (you think the English hate Germany, you ain't got nothing on the Dutch)

Here's my three chosen players

Spoiler

IMG_3048.thumb.PNG.3820d8b57d5558a133af91dcc2b8a8aa.PNG

Memphis Depay, whose career has taken a bit of a sideways turn lately, but has proven himself to me, clinching the 80 goals in Spain during my Latin Europe Challenge, so I know he can deliver the goods

IMG_3046.thumb.PNG.7233a662629332ea285b3b5c927abc7f.PNG

Thomas Buitink, who many may not have heard of, but he begins the game as a 16 year old at Vitesse but I pick him up for £100M from PSG and he has become an incredible striker

IMG_3047.thumb.PNG.2236f2699e809d7f566628215588ab5a.PNG

Lastly there is my first Regen of this career (and I know there are those who don't like Regens, but I have no issue with them) Cillessen is Arjen Robbens' regen and you see those stats it's no wonder I used him

So there are my three strikers ready to claim the record but before they can start we need to sort out the squad

Spoiler

IMG_3086.thumb.PNG.64cef621204fa95c0c1b101759c9cb98.PNG

The only addition apart from my three (very expensive strikers £275M for the three of them) is Toljan who comes in as a backup RB/RW (although he ended up playing like twice and ended up making me a £8M profit at the end of the year

IMG_3087.thumb.PNG.24c3248ea075d18e86527140a087e953.PNG

Now managed to sell all three of my German Strikers (didn't make a good amount on them but enough), then Edison wasn't happy about sharing the GK duties with Horn (who was outshining him) so Madrid had him for a tidy £23M, then Tolisso went out again a big loss on him but I hate moaners, hence why both Wisdom and Schick also left the club

So the squad sorted lets get on with it

Spoiler

Community Shield

So once again the season begins and once again the Community Shield is our starting point

IMG_3050.thumb.PNG.de3de543cf53305367ddc9d5b302214c.PNGIMG_3049.thumb.PNG.11e4ccffce37cf8d475c94faa8fa36c0.PNG

Depay and Cillessen start off their City careers in style helping us clinch a narrow win over Chelsea to once again claim the Community Shield for Man City

Euro Supercup

And we then go on (to once again face an English Team) in the Euro Supercup after missing out last season could we make ourselves the undisputed champions of Europe

IMG_3052.thumb.PNG.800b99f75afaf7ad9d7fdc68390c0e53.PNGIMG_3051.thumb.PNG.eb7e8a1f5dcff16fd09f497595d59a47.PNG

Yes we could, with all three of my strikers getting in on the act this time

Club World Championship

Another cup we were missing last year and we we're making sure we claim it

IMG_3057.thumb.PNG.03b80d4c587bf49d369bc3951d8e8e41.PNGIMG_3058.thumb.PNG.07f6842f9276a28a432da6d50a3606aa.PNG

An easy win in the end (a little disappointed we didn't do better to be honest)

EFL Cup

We once again make it to the final to face the Gunners

IMG_3061.thumb.PNG.3ee475a65a0d89ab8dc28f6c8fc412e0.PNGIMG_3060.thumb.PNG.e602f022a3f3c5e400d3a10a4b70a227.PNG

We need an ET winner from Cillessen, but Man City are once again EFL Cup Champions

League

Nothing really to say here

IMG_3068.thumb.PNG.efad62fc55deb390174418960566d97f.PNGIMG_3071.thumb.PNG.5638cb9c3512d0e81159ad89b5c159ec.PNG

We clinch our 7 league title in 8 seasons thanks to another strong display from the boys, especially when they have games like this

Spoiler

IMG_3070.thumb.PNG.b260f160c43f8e0b0cc7e73932354ad2.PNG

FA Cup

Arsenal once again are the team in the way of us and another piece of silverware

IMG_3075.thumb.PNG.5e3eda62765a1442adf6d8454d02eaa5.PNGIMG_3074.thumb.PNG.29fe9fb8cc6d6519aba87d377c953bff.PNG

And thanks to a brace from my RW Passlack and a late goal from the ever impressive De Bruyne we clinch the FA Cup

UCL

We start the season in what is possibly the toughest group we have yet to be in, with Real Madrid and Dortmund to try and get past..

(and the idiot I am forgot to screenshot the table, but we finished 1st with 5 wins and 1 loss)

and so onto the knockout rounds we go

Spoiler

IMG_3063.thumb.PNG.44ce6c3acf6925c44c7869fe6cd2d0c6.PNG

AC milan are our first opponents and we brush them aside in the 2nd game to progress 5-1 winners and go on to face Man U in the Quarter Finals

IMG_3067.thumb.PNG.02b4570e297c1e8a1286bea71f18fd93.PNG

The first leg goes our way in a 2-0 win, but the return game is a very nervous affair with the game ending 1-1, but it's enough and we move on to the semi finals to face Chelsea

IMG_3069.thumb.PNG.767642608a4cb4b1bdba7299cd56aadb.PNG

This time there is no messing around with a 2-0 away win and then a 3-1 victory at home and the Final is our next destination to face the mighty Bayern

So it's an England vs Germany Final in the UEFA Champions League, could the boys beat one last team to retain the title

IMG_3077.thumb.PNG.8e1fc83bb2202115d8b224557defb2f0.PNGIMG_3076.thumb.PNG.74d839ae09f6e719cef4d7435bd5d461.PNG

Yes we could with all three of my strikers scoring and we march out 4-2 victors and raise the UCL Cup high above our heads once again

So an absolutely amazing season winning everything put in front of us

Here's the boys stats at the end of the season

Spoiler

IMG_3078.thumb.PNG.b6e8a64842bc6bae18e8f78bbabab249.PNG

Depay looking like the beast that he is, and as you can see his form has been excellent

IMG_3080.thumb.PNG.2d0310f8d40263c1566668273391b465.PNG

Buitink also proved what a player he is, showing all the makings of a world class striker (for the sake of the national team I hope this boy becomes this good in Real Life)

IMG_3082.thumb.PNG.ef2615eefde5dc959e8653f8f726566e.PNG

Cillessen missed a fair chunk of game time this season through injury, but he was immense when he played

Now the bit you've all (and especially @BatiGoal) have been waiting for, the goal tally

IMG_3079.thumb.PNG.52e3ee328b60c735feb2fa2916857ad5.PNG

Depay ends the season with a very respectable 43 goals, he needed resting now and again due to the sheer volume of games we played, but very happy with his contributions this season

IMG_3081.thumb.PNG.cbb138014e855177a3d554ce7ee5380c.PNG

Buitink nets one more than Depay, but again very happy with his 44 goals

IMG_3083.thumb.PNG.cc3f90e3a4b39ec89f28cbe3698009a9.PNG

Cillessen was maybe the most prolific of the three netting 37 in 39 and if I could have had him fit for the season, there's no telling what sort of damage he could have done

Spoiler

IMG_3055.thumb.PNG.082e14130bc382d1351c10b543b882b4.PNGIMG_3066.thumb.PNG.95bc5b4d32e41b20c8815090bde41194.PNG

Considering he missed 3 + Months he did amazing work, and this shows what he could do on any given day

IMG_3059.thumb.PNG.14219b099130d3e66dadd8a1bff0ec4e.PNG

5 goals in 1 game, the guy is a beast

Depay: 43

Buitink: 44

Cillessen: 37

Total: 124

Goals Scored: 912

Goals Remaining: 588

                                                           Alphabet/TT Table

Nation Goals
Argentina 117
Belgium 106
Columbia 124
Denmark 105
England 94
France 117
Germany 125
Holland 124

So the Dutch end up just 1 shy of the Germans, but considering the time Cillessen missed they could have beat it I'm sure.  Another decent season and we will be well over the 500 goals remaining mark

Here's the dull bits for you

Buitink and Depay share the honours in the WPOTY award

IMG_3072.thumb.PNG.df01156e681589364c4d14ea7ff32c99.PNG

Cillessen showing how good he's been when fit to clinch the EPL POTY over Buitink

IMG_3073.thumb.PNG.b0c40fcab16e81518d48199698c870c4.PNG

And I am once again named MOTY

So all in all a fantastic season for the Dutch, lets hope can get another good group together for Season I

See you all In a while

Two very impressive seasons mate! I'm enjoying this concept so much more than I expected, i knew it was a solid idea but I'm finding it super entertaining! This could easily become one of the go to challenges on the site imo!

Cheers dude, I really appreciate you saying that, just hope the love carries on to the end, I'm sure @Mikee1984 is having a sneaky go himself so it would be nice if more people gave it a go

Another brilliant season there mate those Germans destroyed it, yeah ive been having a go but struggling to spread the goals out one of my forwards gets over 50 every season then I get one struggling to get over 25 it's difficult to balance the goals out.

Your smashing this Challenge mate, as mentioned earlier I can see this being a sought after challenge once you complete it and set the benchmark, all the best @Taff as you close in on the magic 1000

What's next Isreal, India or maybe Italy? mmm

Awesome work Taff, it's definitely a challenge I'm tempted by myself. Keep up those 120+ seasons and you'll set an imposing target!

Taff Attempts the "Alphabet/Nation Lock/TT" Challenge

Season I

So after a superb display by the Dutch, could my next nation come in and continue the 120+season

Well we remain in Europe and there is only really one choice for Season I

download.png.15fc85df4c9b6425fbd380ab99382935.png

Italy

So which three Italian Stallions will aim to prove they are the best nation in the world

Spoiler

IMG_3124.thumb.PNG.2a9b27b53f1ebf3b69cbb74f4c494d9f.PNG

Domenico Berardi who (you could argue) is one of Italy's deadliest attackers, a natural IF, getting him upfront he could provide plenty of goals

IMG_3125.thumb.PNG.dbb7b4d1efa077a3212a9bc1bbc6da1c.PNG

Another of Italy's stars, linked with move to Man U this summer he could prove a threat in the EPL

IMG_3126.thumb.PNG.addd459eb144998d7c52444fba1a9e8a.PNG

A bit of a random pick, but I discovered Petagna in one of my other saves and this is the third time he has appeared in one of my challenges and is a truly great option for the mid table clubs if you want to give him a go

So with my three strikers in place, we move on to the rest of the transfers

Spoiler

IMG_3170.thumb.PNG.f593625149c6d42aa7e60fc42b77b412.PNG

Lots of business this year, bringing in a lot of backup and new starters with my squad beginning to age.  Hernandez came in as my new starting LB/LW, Dahoud as a great option in the CM role, Dorel as a young quality CD to possibly replace the aging Laporte, Bazor (or King Bazor came in as a backup CM) Nerelus a backup RB/RW and the best find was Mayoral on a free as a backup striker

IMG_3171.thumb.PNG.916d6689c2c7b5de8cd0273753c88318.PNG

My two star Dutch players left for a decent £80M and Saul wanted more game time so once again Real Madrid shelled out and I made £184M form Real this season (no one wanted Depay at any price so moved him to join Griezmann in the reserves)

So with new players in and old players gone we set off on our journey

Spoiler

Community Shield

So once again our season begins with the Community Shield game

IMG_3128.thumb.PNG.8f86fb14256cbfc366243453cbeaeabd.PNGIMG_3127.thumb.PNG.1b3b2d2a431f7741b9035d01d3ac4f41.PNG

And Petagna and Berardi begin their seasons off well, seeing off Chelsea 3-1 to win the cup once again

Euro Supercup

We face the mighty Real Madrid (loaded with their new Dutch pairing) to determine who are the kings of Europe

IMG_3130.thumb.PNG.79da25f2509d96de4e47836a49e47559.PNGIMG_3129.thumb.PNG.9c2a14c5e35ba6def035d42811b28db5.PNG

A very good game for the spectators as a 7 goal thriller just goes our way and this time it's Belotti with the brace

CWC

Need I say more

IMG_3150.thumb.PNG.af65b549710f4c001a86b346ee15a8a3.PNGIMG_3149.thumb.PNG.88c44a1e1f4b81cb64488b85581bae9a.PNG

A great win here clinches the CWC

EFL Cup

The EFL cup was once again within our reach

IMG_3154.thumb.PNG.061239c64ae4eb5726587f1bc3b85349.PNGIMG_3153.thumb.PNG.09e4d5c2538f862bb9ba5fd8fb5c646e.PNG

And a single goal from Petagna is enough to seal the cup once again

League

Another season and another chance to claim the EPL Crown

IMG_3158.thumb.PNG.514f6e1cb7c8e70f8b60fb1fb483e4bf.PNG

We won the league, but I forgot to screenshot the table sorry

FA Cup

A bit of an embarrassing year in the FA Cup saw us go out in the Fifth round to Middlesbrough

IMG_3152.thumb.PNG.8c84092de44560626210e0443940ddd8.PNG

UCL

And another adventure in Europe awaits

IMG_3147.thumb.PNG.6676184ab1dfd92a8eb6687d7a882231.PNG

Once again we top the group winning all 6 games and conceding only 1 goal, so on to the knockout stages

Spoiler

IMG_3155.thumb.PNG.6a6edadd11c26d414a4030ca1b47920a.PNG

We overcome a 1-2 first round loss to walk out 3-2 winners over two legs against Real Mardid and progress to the quarter finals to face PSG

IMG_3156.thumb.PNG.2af198e5302635c82661d4994c32dd32.PNG

For the second time we overturn a 1-2 1st leg loss and manage to turn it around in the second leg to beat PSG 4-3 on agg, and move on to the semi finals to face the red side of Manchester

IMG_3157.thumb.PNG.f61021b9f3e409b3955ff57a30664dfd.PNG

this time the first leg ends in a 1-1 draw, and we go on one hell of a goal spree in the home leg and walk out 5-3 winners and progress to the UCL Final (notice how we lost/drew all the away legs to go on to beat them at home)

So into the UCL Final where we face Liverpool

IMG_3161.thumb.PNG.30362232b87ea5985fc1f9604abda960.PNGIMG_3160.thumb.PNG.97bebf7f379f4a362a09490739eb1cb0.PNG

Two first half goals are enough to secure the UCL title once again as the fans chant CITY, CITY, CITY

So another solid season, shame about our early FA Cup exit, but never mind, we won enough I think

So how did my three boys look towards the end of the season

Spoiler

IMG_3162.thumb.PNG.a81e49bd04d033f7812f28f4da6fe9ee.PNG

Berardi still looking like a beast of a player

IMG_3164.thumb.PNG.d5e51c1094d861f6a46371e5cce5fd7c.PNG

Belotti still looking good

IMG_3166.thumb.PNG.064fa60f7f5a71b5ef1e555ef3f25064.PNG

My man Petagna looking like the world class striker he could become

Now the bit you actually want to see, could the Italians upset the apple cart and pinch the crown from the Germans, lets have a look

IMG_3163.thumb.PNG.871ccd8a550e9e1260494add1da0e02a.PNG

Berardi having a pretty decent season netting 37 in 52

IMG_3165.thumb.PNG.ba4ee5a27067a9ecd0345fd2b85cbe8b.PNG

Belotti not far behind with 35

IMG_3167.thumb.PNG.1d79c0db68e08335bb22c630e84f4563.PNG

And Petagna with 33 (although he was the only one to miss any real time)

Spoiler

IMG_3151.thumb.PNG.ce672050c5c069b503b6009419f21299.PNG

Berardi: 37

Belotti: 35

Petagna: 33

Total: 105

Goals Scored: 1018

Goals Remaining: 482

Alphabet/TT Table

Nation Goals
Argentina 117
Belgium 106
Columbia 124
Denmark 105
England 94
France 117
Germany 125
Holland 124
Italy 105

So not a bad season for the boys avg 35 each, but that puts them way down in joint 5th place with Denmark (only England have done worse)

Here's the boring bits

Surprising to see Berardi topping both lists

End of Season Awards

IMG_3148.thumb.PNG.192c120182bfcaf3fc216337e9fc4315.PNG

Berardi clinches the WPOTY, but very chuffed with Petagna claiming the runner up spot

IMG_3159.thumb.PNG.132ee1c5fc4875c3ff0e7630130c670a.PNG

And its the same result in the POTY

and the first season for me not to claim the MOTY (or I won and forgot to screenshot, not sure which)

So Season J next and I have found three strikers, but I'm not holding hope that they'll have me Jumping for Joy next year

See you all on the other side

Taff Attempts the "Alphabet/Nation Lock/TT" Challenge

Season J

So after a so-so season with the Italians it was time to move on and get Season J cracking, now I had two options

Jamaica who have maybe four players (three of which are 34 or older), or the other nation (and the one I chose was)

59452e567a52f_download(1).png.f5ded237f0707bbc87c16525baafc4a7.png

Japan

So who did the mighty Japan offer up in way of Striking Gods

Spoiler

IMG_3182.thumb.PNG.ee4a928eddba256f9106154b25bba894.PNG

Yoshinori Muto, whom I have used in the past, and I know he can be a quality striking option, but at 33 could he last the season and provide me with some goals.

IMG_3184.thumb.PNG.5d0ee4863176cd096860ed6fcc0bf143.PNG

Takuma Asano, bought from Arsenal his stats are much less impressive than Mutos, but he is 3 years younger, so maybe that could count for something

IMG_3183.thumb.PNG.83ba4c399b8cefef8dbb050d546b8504.PNG

Hajime Honda (Regen) a very good looking striker and with good aerial stats I'm hoping he could be my lethal TM

So there you have it, three Japanese strikers one at 33, one who's stats don't look the best and an unknown regen, so which one steps up this year.  We also added some additional players to the squad, while getting shot of a few unwanted ones as well

Spoiler

IMG_3212.thumb.PNG.0acc18f1283a836dade514890d98b08c.PNG

Plenty of new players coming in, apart from my three new strikers (who cost a combined £10.1M) we have, Some new young English talent in Shanahan (AM) and Grealish (CD), Diawara was the big buy to come in and take over for Can in CM, Villalba was a steal of a free agent and Gonul joined us as a backup RB/RW and an eventual successor for Bellerin and Passlack

IMG_3213.thumb.PNG.94703008bf5a3a88c8807807b7116534.PNG

Going out were two of my Italian strikers (Berardi rejoining Chelsea), Petagna to Sampdoria and Laporte to Chelsea

So with the ins and outs done, we set off on the season ahead

Spoiler

Community Shield

A very even match sees us just edge out United by a single Alli goal, but it's enough and the Community Shield heads back to the Etihad

Euro Supercup

Another close game and we require an injury time winner from Laporte (before he left)

Again we only just manage to beat a team in a cup final, this one should have been a much easier game

EFL Cup

A Hat-trick from the on form Asano clinches our fourth piece of silverware of the season

We went on a rampage in the league going undefeated and netting over 110 goals on the way

FA Cup

We only make it to the semi finals this year with those Red Devils knocking us out so close to the final

UCL

IMG_3187.thumb.PNG.8ce235940390506a5a62623b5a7ee3c2.PNG

We manage to win all but one game in the group stages, drawing with Milan, but another successful year and on to the Knockout rounds

IMG_3200.thumb.PNG.5f10aa5ccdbbe4b469f3ccd3ff3ca4cc.PNG

Where we go down 4-1 away to PSG, we fight back bravely but it's not enough and we are knocked out before the quarter finals

So here's how my three strikers look at the end of the year

Spoiler

Muto still looking like a threat even at his advanced age (one year younger than me but still)

IMG_3206.thumb.PNG.980345aaabca8fabbca53c27558ec115.PNG

Asano proved what he might be capable of this year, and his stats have improved a little

IMG_3208.thumb.PNG.fdbffa33b8247afd0c2de795b3067bc5.PNG

Honda was the spearhead this year, and has taken a hit on his stats but not his form

So now the important bit

IMG_3205.thumb.PNG.8409b9795b1886dd94dc5c1121226687.PNG

Muto netted a very respectable 28 in 47, but did miss some time and due to his age he took longer to recover

IMG_3207.thumb.PNG.6f9ecdce82a72ff2538ecce9ddb7b6c3.PNG

Asano started slow, but managed to get some game time as a sole striker and made those games count boosting his tally to 32 for the season

IMG_3209.thumb.PNG.7890c0f74f8f3a5ec707468124cb7ba4.PNG

Honda was the talisman this season playing as the centre CF netting 39 for the season, but he also missed some time

Spoiler

Muto: 28

Asano: 32

Honda: 39

Total: 99

Goals Scored: 1117

Goals Remaining: 383

Alphabet/TT Table

Nation Goals
Argentina 117
Belgium 106
Columbia 124
Denmark 105
England 94
France 117
Germany 125
Holland 124
Italy 105
Japan 99

So my Japanese lads end just shy of 100, but have still scored more than England, so not too bad for the guys from Japan

Here's the boring bits

Honda claims the WPOTY title after showing his class early in the season

He claims the EPL POTY as well, with Muto coming runner up

And just another MOTY for myself

So thanks for all the comments and everything, hopefully we can keep everyone interested until the final goal is in

Just a little bonus of my favourite game this season

Solid job with Japan. Getting close now. Probably 4 seasons left so you may as well skip a few letters to get the more favorable nations. Kazakhstan surely? Luxembourg?

I'm going to try it without skipping if I can, but I could always just carry on through the alphabet and see how many we get by the end

Although Q, X and Z might be a big problem

Still better than England :(

They are still the worse, but have K and L next and severely limited options so maybe England won't come bottom of the pile

Quick question for you guys

I'm looking at players for K and L and the options are really limited

would anyone object if I skipped these letters and moved on to M

I'm happy to take a 100 goal penalty per letter

its just my only options are Kosovo and Latvia/Lithuania and I think it's going to be dull so if no one minds I'll move on and just take the 200 goal penalty

Great job so far Taff.

If you're lacking striking options could you go a bit Converted Winger or Unicorn Midfielder for a season just to make up the 3 and get a score posted?

Looking forward to what's next.

@Taff This is just an idea to throw out there, how about keeping the letters i.e K & M, but 3 strikers from either of

  • Kosovo.
  • Kenya.
  • Kazakhstan.
  • Kiribati.
  • Kuwait.
  • Kyrgyzstan
  • Macau.
  • Macedonia.
  • Madagascar.
  • Malawi.
  • Malaysia.
  • Maldives.
  • Mali.
  • Malta
