[JAMIE VARY FOOTBALL ACADEMY CHALLENGE]

Right guys, here is my attempt at the Jamie Vardy Football Academy Challenge. I’ve been sitting on this idea for a while now a feel it’s ready to go live, what else could we be doing now the football season is over!

Having come up with the challenge I feel it’s only right that I go with….. Leicester City. Can I find the right strike partner to join Vardy’s party.

I scouted the Vanarama Leagues to find the right player to do the job. I looked at players such as Dominic Knowles, Adam Morgan, Harry White and Cole Stockton but one guy stood out, step forward….. Morgan Ferrier!

A little bit about Morgan Ferrier

Born: 15th November 1994, London, England
Position:
Striker

Previous Clubs: Arsenal, Watford, Nottingham Forrest, Kettering, Crystal Palace, Bishop’s Stortford & Hemel Hempstead
Strengths: Finishing & Dribbling

Weaknesses: Tackling & Positioning
Known for: Telling Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to shut up at Forrest

Value: £30,000 - £50,000

[SEASON 2016/2017]

This season took me absolutely ages to complete due to other commitments and buying my first house!

[FORMATION]

I played a simple 4-4-2 as I wanted to use both Ferrier and Vardy together, Vardy as an Advanced Forward and Ferrier as the Poacher. I was doubtful that this would work, but surprisingly it worked out quite well, with pair scoring 35 goals between them!

Here is Ferrier at Boreham Wood at the start of the game, his finishing stood out and that’s why I went for him.

He has improved quite a bit and rather impressed me throughout the season. The only downside is Morgan picks up injuries far too often, resulting in some time on the sidelines.

Ferrier's progress through the 2016/17 season, quite a few injury spells in there!

[PLAYER HISTORY]

Even though he spent some time out injured he still managed to score 15 goals in 32 games, with an overall average rating on 7.34. He also finished in the top 10scorers in the Premier League, great achievement.

[PLAYER ACHIEVEMENTS]

Unfortunately we did not win any competitions. We came runners up in the Community Shield after getting destroyed by Manchester United. We also went out early in the EFL Cup and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal.

We managed to reach the First Knockout Round of the Champions League drawing PSG. After gaining a very credible draw in Paris, we lost 1-0 at home knocking us out of the competition.

[LEAGUE TABLE]

IMG_5980.thumb.PNG.a021a0ee0df7b1e1369eb429a226aa82.PNG

After sitting in 6th for almost the whole season, we eventually finished 7th behind Stoke City and missed out on a Europa League place. We had a terrible end of the season winning just 3 in our last 10 games.

[MY SCORE]

So my score for the 2016/17 season was: 115 points
- 40 points for scoring 15 goals with my non-league player
- 75 points for my non-league players value exceeding £5 million.

I can also confirm that I will continue the 2017/18 season with Morgan Ferrier, are you watching Gareth Southgate?..... probably not!

Good start mate and 15 goals in his first season in the Premiership is nothing to be sniffed at

Thanks @Taff, it really is a good start. I think if he wasn't injured as much he would have scored at least 5 more :)

Such a shame you missed out on an EL ticket. Still expecting a great season next year. Very promising so far.

Yeah I was disappointed at that @BatiGoal, I was a few points clear of  Stoke but the form just dropped at the end of the season. Hopefully in the absence of Europe we have a great season.

I think that counts as a decent success, quality find mate! The type of striker that could be interesting to see in say Wales....
