Player Hidden Attributes Explained

Introduction

These are the attributes that you can't see and can only guess at. They make a huge difference to your player, even though you don't know them. Ever. If you have FM, you can check out the stats, but bare in mind the stats are rarely the same between the two versions of the game.

The Stats

Important Matches - How well a player plays in the big matches.

Players with it high - Park Ji-Sung, Didier Drogba.

Injury Proneness - How injury prone a player is.

Players with it high - David Silva, Michael Owen, Fernando Torres.

Versatility - How well your player reacts to different positions and formations.

Players with it high - Owen Hargreaves, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Set Pieces - How well a player strikes a dead ball.

Players with it high - Robin Van Persie, Wesley Sneijder, Andrea Pirlo, David Beckham.

Flair - How often a player will try audacious skill.

Players with it high - Alexis Sánchez, Ryan Giggs.

Work Rate - How hard a player works.

Players with it high - Michael Essien, Wayne Rooney.

Consistency - How consistently he performs from match to match. On the basis that there is no player that will perform to his current ability 100% of the time, the ratio of what consistency means in terms of how often a player plays at his CA is as follows

20 Consistency = 20/25 games played at CA

10 Consistency = 10/25 games played at CA

1 Consistency = 1/25 games played at CA

The way consistency is used in the full match engine is that the average "off day" will be 10 below the CA. A random factor will be used to determine how much this is less or more than 10.

Please note that physical attributes are not taken into consideration when it comes to consistency. Only the technical and mental attributes are marked down depending on consistency.

Also Match Importance (database value) and Team Blend (Game value) affect the match by match calculation of the "Real CA" (Consistency combined with CA)

Players with it high - Nemanja Vidic, Dirk Kuyt, Frank Lampard.

Nice article, Patrick. From these attributes, consistency is by far the most important. A great player with low consistency will still shine, but will struggle to do so week-in, week out.

Additionally, I've found this very interesting bit in a couple of FM forums:

Consistency is "the number of games, out of 25, that he plays to his very best".

Of course not. Be my guest :)

You can use the full explanation:
